It's official, WMP is a better MP3 player than Winamp.

The only two MP3 players with good management of playlists and libraries that I've come across are iTunes for OS X, and WMP 9 for windows. Winamp has just fallen too far behind.

I don't use playlists often so I'd rather use Winamp.

I grade media players based on how they play media and not how they organize them. Explorer does a fine job of organizing them for me.

Winamp3 and WMP both have issues with streams that change bitrate midway through. WMP also can't handle ID3v2 tags changing during the stream correctly.

I am still using winamp 2.81 because it actually handles all of the above correctly.

I tried using Winamp 3 and WMP 9 today after WinXP somehow borked Winamp 2.81. My basic opinion is that Winamp 2.81 is better solely because of the J key. You know, quick searching your playlist? I don't see the point of all this advanced playlist nonsense if you can't move around in it easily.

Winamp 2.81 forever as far as I'm concerned.

They all seem to do a pretty equal job of just playing an MP3 to me. If I want to find a song in WMP or iTunes, I can jsut type the first few letters of it's name into the search box. If I want to find it in winamp, I have to scroll through over 1000 songs and look for it.

winamp supports making playlists a lot better than any version of wmp i've ever used.

Winamp 2.8 loads up in the blink of an eye and just plays music. WMP is all big and stuff.

Actually, if you're playing in Winamp, all you have to do is hit J and then type in the song you want.

In winamp 2, and it still doesn't work as nicely as WMP or iTunes, IMO.

Well, like I said, I wouldn't know about those because I just load up whatever songs I want directly from explorer.

Then I don't think you are familiar with the jump function. Press J and type the name of the song. Fast and easy.
Edit: Too damn late ... hehe

I use Winamp 2.81. There's nothing that I need it to do that it doesn't already do.

Edit: F3 also works for jumping to a specific track.

Yep, I have this problem on my work computer, running wmp9 in windows 2000. Wmp9 at home in Windows XP doesn't, though. What OS are you using?

Winamp 2.8 is better but the best is WMP 6.something. Very fast to load and in addition plays divx movies without issues.
