A much smaller percentage of the counties with the major Clinton leaning cities is in, so it looks far less obvious than that.

Is my math wrong, or is Fairfax potentially not enough to upset Trump? They have an 80k lead for Clinton with about two-thirds reporting, while Trump is about 60k ahead. Assuming things stay proportional in that county, that means Clinton will pick up another 40k, right? Obviously the margins are super thin, but it doesn't seem like an assured Clinton victory based at least on that one county.

Yep, the "phantom voter" phenomenon might turn out to be legit. My parents at least both say that they never admit to voting Trump at work or with acquaintances.

I like what CNN is doing, showing at a granular level how Trump is gaining in counties that have not been red since Reagan.

Before you get scared, it's still too close to call.

Second, as to "I never thought"... modern communication has not been used, at large, to inform us of our opponents. It really is used as a comfort device. To encase ourselves in a bubble. People now spread myths and stereotypes of each other and not actual truths. It's a whole bunch of FUD all the way down, including our news sources.

So folks often believe others must think like themselves, or share similar life experiences. Then comes a surprise when reality does not match expectations.
