I missed their online auction last time. They have several Plasma TVs that sold out within 30 minutes in their auction. From what I heard, TVs were going between $2000 to $3000. They have other computer equipments too, so go take a look.

I got this news from my GF - fxbaby (an Anandtech member). She deserves the credit for this.

Enron Auction #2 home page.

Yeah where are the prices and how does one bid on these? I see no description as to working or non working, condition, etc.

no way, some dumb bidders trying to hang on to some sentimental value of these items will probably mess the whole thing up like last time. Not gonna find good price there, mark my word!

"Buyer's Premium: Auctioneer shall charge and collect from each successful bidder a 13% buyer?s premium for each sale at the auction, in addition to the purchase price as bid. Buyers who pay in the form of cash, cashier?s check, company check (with a letter of guarantee) or wire transfer, shall receive a discount from the buyer?s premium equal to 3% of the purchase price (unless such buyers bid over the Internet in a live Webcast auction, in which case the discount shall be equal to 1% of the purchase price). "

Kinda hard to make a hot deal with a 13% markup AFTER your bid. :-/

funny how many of the computers have the harddrives removed! Get one of those and you might end up with one of Fastow's finest.

and they are charging $15.00 to register for this auction. That is lame. I just want to look. I watched another auction on Dovebid without having to pay. :-(

Makes sense. A bunch of people want to watch out of morbid curiosity. Why not make a buck off of it?

Hmmmmm.... so $3,000 retail Plasma TV which will end up going for $4,000 because the bidders are idiots, + 13% - 1% because you're an internet buyer, + $15 to register to bid.

Alright! Only $4,495! Woohoo what a hot deal!

Have an ex-Enron techie friend who told me to stay away from the plasma screens- most of those plasma screens have varying degrees of burn-in.

Just listened to the auction. Panasonic 36" TV for $400. Mitibishi 32" TV for $250. I think the price is okay to high. Somebody just won a used VHS camcorder (80's model) for $275. What a rip off!

Brendan,
Thanks for the tips. I am out.

This IS Enron's equipment we're dealing with, so what more can we expect?

Peace
