When you're sitting at work and all of a sudden you realize that you hate your job. Not the kind of hate that you have on Mondays when you don't want to go to work, but the kind that makes you wonder what the fvck you were thinking when you took this position.

You recall that it sounded so great when you first started, but now you're just someones puppet. You find that its changing you as a person, making you act/do things (or not do as the case may be) that goes against everything you stand for....you realize you're in it for the money and you hate yourself for it.

You cant quit though...you've invested too much of your time in the profit sharing, and leaving would mean taking a heavy loss and setting you back years as far as retirement goes...not to mention that they are paying you quite well to be a mindless drone, you'll have a hard time finding another position that pays that well.

If only you hadn't just taken out that loan for some home improvements...bought that new kayak...and promised the wife a nice vacation...yeah, IF only you realized this sooner.

Money can't buy happiness? Money isn't everything? yeah...you wish that was true...now you've got too many responsibilites and painted yourself into a corner.

Time to count the hours till 5pm ... you can drown your sorrows and forget about your problems for a few hours, but Monday looms ahead...5 more days of hell, you wonder how to make it stop...

"This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
When the world was younger and you had everything to lose"

Maybe next week will be different....somehow I doubt it though.

LOL, I feel the same way. I'm leavin today at 2. I hate slackers and I especially hate it when I slack.

Don't worry too much about it though, the sucky thing about life is that NO ONE makes it out alive.

whoa. there's not much anyone can say to that.

there's nothing you can do at work? maybe you could try to learn some new things (that could be applicable to your work). try talking to your boss to get some more responsibilities or if you have some time, try attacking (helping) some new projects that other ppl are working on.

I had a job like that (except the money was nothing to brag about). It got to the point I sincerely couldn't go back one more day. I took sick leave for a shortwhile, decided I wasn't ever going to return and quit without notice. I still have a deep seated resentment for that place even though there is little left after the whole Worldcomm fiasco.

That's a Switchfoot song, isn't it?

edit: I'm ambivelant toward my job. I don't like it, but I don't hate it either. It keeps me comfortable, and that's all I can ask for (besides more money).

I really need to get out of here...seems like i lost track of what was important to me somewhere along the way. I never thought I'd have regrets in life, but taking this job clearly is one. I hate myself for putting up with all the Bullsh*t just for the greenbacks....life was so much more simple when we were young.

Sometimes, you have to do the things that you don't want to do, to get where you want to be.

If any of you in the Old Town Pasadena area, we can meet up for some hot wings at Hooters on Colorado.

I been there. Except for the well paying and profit sharing part.

I left for a job that pays almost the same with zero frills (not even benefits) but I don't work for my employer. I work for the government and I find happiness in what I do, which is important and a real first for me.

The only thing I hate is that my employer sees fit to make our lives a living Hell. My schedule is so messed up that its enough to burn out the best person and on top of that people are quiting left and right and are getting replaced by minimum wage workers and I still get called in to work on my 1 or 2 days off to work some more. It's very tiring.

The kicker? Our employer is one of 3 or 4 other companies involved in outsourced work for the governmen where I work and the are the only ones who barely pay the employees, treats them bad (major understatement) and flaunt public safety.

This is serious. Someone is bound to get killed eventually because we make a mistake. I just hope we turn over to government before that happens and avoid a possible disaster.

Been there, done that and I COULDN'T leave even if I wanted to.

Spent 4 years pushing papers for the AF systems acquisition bureaucracy in the middle of Los Angeles (I hate big cities).
Nearly drove me out of my mind.
