This is serious. Someone is bound to get killed eventually because we make a mistake. I just hope we turn over to government before that happens and avoid a possible disaster.

what a concidence...90% of our cutomer base is the USNAVY

Wonderful aint it? I support systems like 911 and ambulance response. Now I know I'm not going to screw up but I can't speak for someone who knows a LOT less about the system and what we need to do and is less motivated to learn or even care because of what is happening at work.

Bad Karma.

So you want a perfect life? Is that it? Get over it dude. Your plight would be cherished by others. Stop whining. Enjoy your happiness while it lasts!! Sure you are a cog in a machine, but we all are to a certain extent.
Instead of carrying on like a fvcking baby, you should be thankful.

My job sucks in that I haven't been given any work in quite some time. My days usually consist of telling my manager that I'm out of work. I might get something to occupy me for an hour or so, then it's back in to find more work.

who doesnt want the perfect life? we all do. and just because i'm a cog, doesnt mean i have to like it. i never said i wasnt thankful...i am.. i have it better than most people. believe me its hard work surfing all day and having your brain turn to jello from lack of use. this is exactly what i had in mind for my career.

also, whose carrying on like a baby? who think im the first one to vent in OT with something that not everyone agrees with? i doubt it. maybe you should grow the fvck up.

Sweetheart, is that you? :Q

You are not alone by any means.

Try not to blame it on anyone... or inadvertently let your wife and kids think it is all their fault. Having a home and raising a family requires a certain amount of sacrifice and committment. You are actually investing in your own future, because you should have children and grandchildren to help support and love you when you are old.

Do what you can now to enjoy each day, while you remain 'trapped'. Savor the little things, take pleasure in each moment with your wife and your family. Don't doubt if it was worth it. Don't wish it all away. Believe me, life could be much, much worse.

For now, plan with your wife a future that you can envision yourself being more fulfilled in. Give yourself some focus and some hope. For the Mister and I, that means that since I am back in the work force (I stayed out for a while until the kids were all old enough for school) he can start exploring his career options. If he wants to follow some other career path that looks more fulfilling to him, he can. However, he really likes his paycheck and so far has elected to stay where he is. At least he knows it is his choice.

Best wishes to you!

Well Said!!!

Agreed. I can't stand it when tards go "well there are people who would love to be in your shoes...". Blah blah blah. Fvck em. The Op's original post is about his OWN UNHAPPINESS. No amount of rationalization is going to make a person become all of a sudden happy. This is one of the stupidest notions I hear thrown around all the time.

To the OP. Brother I was in your shoes for years coming out of college. I was working at a company where I was well compensated and had an extremely bright future. You konw what? I was miserable. Absolutely miserable. I was in finance and my boss was scum. I knew he was a manipulative bastard and would screw over clients to save himself a few bucks. Point is, I got up and left. You'd be surprised at the opportunity out there. Sure I took two steps back, but it was necessary to take that proverbial step forward. Now, I'm doing better than I would ever have had I chose to stay. Is this what I suggest? Nope. The moral of the story is that there are always options out there. ALWAYS.

If you do leave the craphole, make sure you have -another- job lined up!!! Don't jump ship spontatneously and realize you can't find a join to pay the bills. Even if that's what you want to do, your well being is extremely important.

Very good post! I sure can relate. There are so much crap and unfair things going on in corporate america. Often time I hate it too.

I am relatively new (2 yrs) at my company. I think I'm more competent than most other employees here. Yet those lousy ppl get better pay, more vacation days, and more authority just because they're in the company for 10+ years and/or they have better relationship with higher management. My pay is not too bad, but the system is definitely not fair.

/me hugs job

Just got back from a "Fun Club" meeting in an office a few minutes away. Discussed the evening cruise we've got planned for all IT employees in 2 weeks. After the meeting, my director took a couple of us to lunch at JT Schmit's (by the Anaheim Pond).

This is the first job I've ever had that I still love even after a year.

Considering that you spend 1/3 of the time in your life working, it's extremely important that you have a decent working environment. I think everyoen SHOULD pursue that. this is not whining at all.

I realized I hate my job ages ago, but it pays probably 35% more than whatever else I could find with 100% job security unless I break the law.

My latest annoyance- we received a message from way high up yesterday, someone complained and now our footers in Emails are 12, yes, TWELVE line long when the average lenght of a message I send is 3 lines.
