yea, the "dot comer" era is not as good as it was. too many businesses closing up, some are scared to start up, some are just cutting spending. It was bound to happen. Look at Oracle. After the split they were at 33, yesterday at market close, they were hovering around 16. It is awful.

Yea it sucks. At least cisco is providing a decent severence package (6 months pay, placement assistance, continuation of medical benefits, etc..).

My brother was laidoff last December from one of the big consultancy firms and a decent package (3 months, some health, some office stuff like his Aeron chair). Another friend basically got 2 weeks and a big fat FU.

This stinks. At the rate things were going 2 years ago, I would've been able to retire at 30! Oh well... I wouldn't have had anything to do anyway if I retired so early...

So where are all these layed off people going? Competition for new jobs must be fierce since companies are laying off and there are a lot of people looking or jobs...

The big question is what are they going to do with that 2.5 BILLION in inventory they are going to write off as unsellable.Why not have an auction. Id be happy to give em $250 ea for a dozen 2514 routers.
Unfortunately theres no way to unload without ruining their current market.
