@HomeyFoos

I suggest you first do some research on your first statement. The X1800XTX does not exist; the fastest card in the X1800 line is the X1800XT. The X1800XL loses to the 7900GT, but the X1800XT is equal to or better than the 7900GT. And not just in performance, but image quality and features as well.

I haven't ever seen a local store that came close to matching the online shops pricing for hardware. If possible I would suggest you look into using Newegg, Monarch, or Zip Zoom Fly and ordering online.

I am certainly not an ATI expert but if I recall correctly, you get better performance out of the 7900GT than you would out of the 1800XT. If you got the 1800XTX, then it would win out, but I think the XT loses to the 7900GT. Could be wrong, though, as I said, I'm not much an observer of the ATI side of things and just go by what I read here (or think I read )

C'mon man. I said right there that I was not sure and said I was not an observer of the ATI line. It's the second time in this thread that I admitted I was not certain and the user should inform himself.

One more time for you, though...

I AM NOT AN EXPERT ON ANY ATI PRODUCTS!!! IT IS VERY POSSIBLE I MAY MISSPEAK ABOUT THEM AND DO NOT INTEND TO OFFEND ANY ATI OWNER OUT THERE WHO CAN DECIPHER THEIR RIDICULOUS NAMING CONVENTION OF XL, XT, XTX, XTXL, XTXT, XTXLXTL, XTXLTXMLCA PE, ETC OR TO DIRECT A POSSIBLE ATI OWNER IN THE DIRECTION OF NVIDIA CARDS THAT I ACTUALLY DO KNOW ABOUT!!!

My apologies.

Regardless, the x1k series is a generation behind the 7900/7600 series and is hotter/louder/older despite any performance gain you have noted. What I do know is that ATI sucks in the middle of the road. Not even the real homers can argue that.

Wrong, bucko. The R520 was equivalent to the G70, and the R580 was equivalent to the G71. That means, X1800XT = 7800GTX, and X1900XT = 7900GT. It's also not older, as you've so ignorantly stated.

By the way, NVidia's just as guilty of the naming scheme as ATI is. Let's see...

ATI = XT, XL, XTX, Pro
NVidia = GT, GTX, GS, GX2

What's the difference?

None except fanboy denial. ATI's naming conventions suck rocks. No one who is the least bit objective is going to argue against that. But let's not kid ourselves, nVidia is just as guilty of this. Just head to Newegg and click on their video card section and look at the HUGE list of ATI cards and nVidia cards.
