Metal covers almost always work. Why? It's because metal places an exclamation mark on whatever it treats.
The Sounds of Silence is just a fantastic song, it's classic. Just about anything that resurrects it is righteous. That version isn't that bad, come on, it's not what I would call metal, but it's not so bad. The video? I'm not judging that. The music's OK, folks.
Leo from Frog Leap studios gets a lot of traffic, but this guy has a bit of an Alice in Chains vibe going.
Didn't the Stones say "it's not the singer, but the song?" That song is an all time classic. Not a lot of people cover it, it's not one of those songs that people cover in their live shows, etc. But its greatness can't be denied. Actually, it's goddamn prophetic. When it was written, AFAIK, graffiti was absolutely in its infancy in this country. Paul Simon was NYC (I think), I had visited NYC in 1964, I don't think I saw much graffiti, but graffiti is just viral all over the world now... this song kind of predicted that. But the message of the song is much much bigger than that. It's downright zen mastery in musical form.I thought the Disturbed sound of silence was pretty damn good. My wife loved it, and I had to explain to her that it was actually a cover of a classic heh.

As someone that has had a kid in the last couple years, Disney song's are inevitable...
But I'm not going to lie, this is a damn good cover of Frozen IMO
How about when metal covers make awesome songs terrible?
I was completely prepared to hate it, and was surprised that I didn't. I love S&G and cannot stand Disturbed. This cover still definitely isn't as good as the original, but it's at least okay. How about when metal covers make awesome songs terrible?
Nah... this one is better:
