Who was the moron that designed iTunes 12? They need to go back to design school. How the hell did this pass QA at a company that prides itself on design and usability? Everything is harder to access or use.

I just installed it. I was the opposite. Sooooo much better. The old one looked so dated.

it took me a while to figure out how to configure the podcasts on my ipod

but everything, once you find it, seems to be there still!

I felt exactly the same way as you when Office 2007 came out. They didn't make office better, easier or cheaper. They forced you to re-learn everything all over again as if they had made it better, easier and cheaper.

All I know is, the icon changed color. Wtf? I haven't opened iTunes in quite awhile though. Come to think of it, I haven't even plugged my phone into my computer in a long time either.

Anything has to be an improvement over just how truly awful iTunes was though.

I'm a bit perturbed that I still cannot use the back button on my mouse. I believe it worked in iTunes 10, but it hasn't worked since the update to 11. I've also noticed that my keyboard's multimedia key functionality is garbage. I was listening to an album, and regardless of how often I hit next or previous in quick succession, I could only ever listen to two songs on an album that had around 40 songs!

I was browsing the store last night, and I thought I had taken crazy pills when the back button on my mouse wasn't working. Glad I'm not the only one.

I can't speak to your media key issue, my keyboard only has play/pause (which ONLY works with iTunes, not VLC), and volume controls.

I can't get the podcast icon to stick to the front screen. It always hides behind the three pips when changing to the store or music.

Also, my smart playlists are not updating. Haven't figured out to force them to update to my iPod. Used to just drag and replace them when they would become dumb.

Apple has to change iTunes every once in awhile, otherwise people get use to it and start to realize how awful it is.

I kinda liked the Ribbon interface and felt it made sense. Needed some refinement which it got in Office 2010 and 2013 but the Ribbon interface actually made sense. Especially for new users.

iTunes 11 was not that bad once you enable the sidebar. This new version, everything just feels clunkier and harder to access. I'm fairly proficient with computers and actually deal with UI issues at work so I can get used to it but the new iTunes 12 just doesn't feel intuitive. And the new icon took some getting used to. I thought the red color meant something was messed up with iTunes.

I don't remember any previous version of iTunes that was any good... maybe back when it was purely for music and not a sprawling mess of an 'iDevice Manager' slash music library management slash music purchasing program, but even then the first versions of iTunes I encountered significantly slowed down the startup routines of the PCs they ran on.

iTunes 11 removed the DJ function, which made it complete garbage. The ability to play random songs from a playlist (or album, artist, etc) and have it play higher rated songs more often than none rated or lower rated song was a masterpiece. Why they removed this is beyond me.

Since that, I have pretty much switched entirely to Spotify anyway, so whatever. There is no reason for me to play local files anymore, as I've no way to effectively create playlists on the fly.

I downloaded it last night because the iTunes store wasn't opening so figured it needed an update.

Icon is now red. Why?

I wish I could think of a good reason.

I had a weird thing happen to me last night. Since I have an iPhone and an iPad, I use iTunes to update my apps, which keeps down on redundant downloads given the abundance of universal apps. Anyway, I have a lot of apps, which usually meant I would avoid clicking on the apps tab as it took some time to process them all. Well, I accidentally clicked on it last night, and as per usual, the program hung up for a little bit.

However, this time, iTunes 12 took it to the next level. All of a sudden, my second monitor just switched to this weird pattern that reminded me of the "snow" you used to get on your TV when your analog signal was bad... except it was colorized. At first, I was rather worried that my video card had bit the dust, but given my other monitor was fine, that didn't make too much sense. My only guess is that iTunes screwed up completely and its GUI renderer just "went out to lunch" (technical programmer term) for a bit.

It was definitely quite strange.

To be fair, iTunes 11 and 12 has not crashed on me whereas older versions would be really laggy depending on what I'm doing and even crash. With that said, I felt that the interfaces in iTunes 12 took a huge step back in usability. It just seems I need more button clicks to access some of the screens. I don't mind changes in the UI as long as it makes sense but the new changes just don't feel intuitive to me.

Major issues with iTunes 12: App updates no longer show the changelog! Not only that, but there's no link to the App Store so you can find out what the hell changed in this version. Why?

Yeah, the removal of the change log (I assume it's a bug) is a bit annoying; however, you've always been able to right click and go to "View in iTunes Store".

My beef with Itunes 12 is for podcasts it not lists all unplayed podcasts and if you do not download the podcast it will not let you delete it from the list, annoying. I can view only unplayed if I pick each podcast. But i like to see a master list of all podcasts with most recent on top and to clear anything i do not want to download.
