apple is working on itunes 7.x.x as we speak says dailytech.

everyone knows that apple basically releases "public betas" for the first round of software they make.

I get terrible noise and distortion with iTunes 7 if I set the player volume to anything but max. I am running it on an X-Fi with the latest sound drivers. The songs also skip and sound terrible when I play a game while listening to iTunes.

I didn't have any of those problems whith itunes 6. Guess am gonna downgrade until an update comes out.

mine the audio slows down, I get some crackling too. It's annoying as hell. Especially seeing how I spend the better part of a day scanning/googling album covers for the cool ass Cover Flow feature. I know Apple will fix it, but until then I'm back to Winamp 5. Are there any other media players that have a Cover Flow like feature? I love flipping threw 600 albums on Itunes seeing the covers for most of them.

Yes, I have the same problem. So far I haven't found any solution, apart from downgrading to iTunes 6.0.5.

how did u downgrade to itunes 6 after installing itunes 7?
i tried to uninstall 7 and install 6 but get some library error...

Uninstall iTunes 7.

Go into My Documents>My Music>iTunes>Previous iTunes Libraries

In there there's a copy of your 6.x library. Make a copy, rename it as iTunes Library and put it in the iTunes dir, overwriting the 7 library.

Install iTunes 6.x and enjoy again.

THANK YOU!!!

I ask myself.. why did download itunes7.

Ok, itunes 6 is SO much better. No more crackling, no more distortions, no more this and that.

Oh why, oh why did I install version x.0 of anything when what I had was working fine?

Stuttering, hangs and hiccups with an Audigy 4 on a decent machine. Starts playing fine, but degrades after a couple of minutes.

Will wait for Apple to fix this (and probably a black hole of other things) - liked the new interface.

That's strange, it should be an iTunes icon, but instead of the music symbol being green, it's blue.

Have you tried clearing the icon cache using Microsoft's TweakUI Power Toy?

on my pc the problems have been fixed, I listened to 3 albums last night with no suttering. Cover Flow seems to be a bit peppier too. And I have something like 800 album covers in mine, so I can only imagine it's using a ton of memory and/or disk space.
Apple fixed their fvck ups, and did it quick. I never used iTunes before this, and I probably won't use it at my main player, but props to Apple for the speedy update.

Hello all,

I've been using iTunes 7.0.1.8 without a problem until a couple of days when i decided to buy a 30GB Video iPod. Now whenever i plug in the iPod to iTunes the program takes forever to load up and when it does it takes an additional 5 min to recognize the iPod, if the itunes is already up and i plug in the iPod i even have to restart the computer in order for it to get recognized. i also can't eject the iPod via iTunes as it just freezes up, i have to used the remove software window icon in order to do this. It does manage to transfer music to the iPod at least. it's weird, because if i remove the iPod, then and both separately work just fine.

I installed iTunes in my laptop and it works fine with the iPod, it gets recognized as a device right away. I talked to Apple tech support 3 times and they weren't able to help. So far i have installed the latest nForce drivers, BIOS, and tried switching to different USB ports. If anyone has had this occured to them and now is fixed, i would like to hear from you.

I'm kind of regretting having purchased the iPod now :|

Thanks for any suggesion you may have,

System:
AMD 3700+
1GB Memory
eVGA 6800GT
DFI Lanparty Ultra-D
Audiugy 2 ZS
Raptor 74GB hard disk

Didn't understand one thing. Does iTunes with your new iPod work fine on laptop only? So it's a problem on your desktop machine?

The slow loading/freezing sounds like your new iPod could be having a problem I recently ran across.... the connector to the iPod harddrive sometimes comes loose. Since this is a new iPod for you, send it back to Apple immediately.

You can tell it's having this problem because the small circle icon on the top left corner (indicating it's communicating) is flashing and not on solidly when the iPod is connected.

If it's not under warranty and still having this problem, no joke, you can fix this by holding the iPod upright and tapping it firmly onto a pad of paper. Hold the iPod in your hand with the dock connector at the bottom. No joke... tap it firmly onto a pad of paper. This reseats the hard drive connector.... Damn goofy, but it worked for me.
