I've downloaded it and tried it out. It's pretty much just like the mac version. I use it on my mac at home, and glad that I'll be able to use it on my laptop and work PC now.

I like the built in radio tuner, too. I don't have to open up a browser and go to Shoutcast first.

I was shocked to find out it was free. It seems ok, but I'm still attatched to Winamp2.

I probably wouldn't be switching from Winamp2 to iTunes had I not already become a fan of iTunes on my mac. Winamp2 is a great player, but I just really like iTunes now.

I use iTunes both on my Windows machine and my Apple, but if you don't have ID3 tags, the program is a nightmare.

It's slugish... There's a noticable delay when moving around iTunes. I don't think I'd use this for eveyday music playing right now.

Also, it looks like it refreshed my iPod's database which screwed it up a little. I was using ephPod before this, so that maybe that was it. I may have to re-upload 30GB...

BTW, don't forget to pickup the new firmware...

A couple tools to end the nightmare:

Psychic MP3 Get database info and rename files soley based upon playtimes of the individual tracks (works best with albums in their own folders)
Tag scanner (speeds the tagging process if your files are named intelligently)

P.S. iTunes is great!

How is Itunes with the ipod? I haven't put mine in the dock yet...I'm afraid of something bad happening lol. Is there a new firmware for the ipod too? I don't think I will be able to migrate all my music uses to Itunes...it lags my comp...

Awesome. Finally I can use my Ipod like it was meant to be used. I just downloaded iTunes and plugged in my Ipod. iTunes immediately recognized my Ipod as Ephpod and allowed me to access it. This is sweet. No more clumsy interface. Thanks Apple!

OK, I asked this in the OT thread, maybe some of you know:

I have an Apple formatted iPod I've been using with Ephpod with Macopener on Windows. Now that this is out, I want to use iTunes. So can I convert an HFS+ formatted iPod to FAT32? Is this something built into iTunes, or am I going to have to use some utility? I wonder if I could just keep macopener installed and use it in Windows with iTunes and keep it HFS+ format?

Why don't you update it and convert it to Windows Ipod? That's what I did with my Mac Ipod. Just download 1.3 system updater from Apple and restore it to Windows format.

I don't have an ipod but I decided to try it anyway. Seems to me like it doesn't really have much advantage over Windows Media Player 9, but its interface is a bit more organized and has less crap. Better mp3 sound quality, though. The bass is more pronounced and simply stronger, but treble seems a bit faded compared to winamp. My equalizer for both programs is flat.

I think its biggest advantage over Windows Media Player 9 is that it's not Windows Media Player 9.

You have to make sure you don't let iTunes organize the files. It's a checkbox in the Preferences.

Exactly, WMP9 is a far too disorganized and ugly.

Pic of iTunes for Windows running side by side with iTunes for Mac (XP is being accessed remotely from my Mac.) By the way, sharing from my XP box to my Mac works perfectly. I just turned it on on the Celeron, and BAM! it automatically appeared on the Mac. This is the way networking was supposed to work folks.

I wonder if they ported to windows widgets and skinned them, or if they ported cocoa or whatever to run on windows...

edit: I also wonder whether they ported the safari renderer to windows, or if they just use the IE components.
