iTunes Sucks (And so does Apple)

I re-format my Windows 7 PC today. My iPhone was synced to my iTunes on my PC.

After re-installing Win7, I download iTunes and install it. Plug in my iPhone with the intention of copying my music from my iPhone to my computer.

So what, what does iTunes say? I can't copy files from iPhone onto my computer unless I sync it to my "new" pc because the iPhone is synced to "another" pc. Syncing removes all data. So I'm stuck here with no way of copying my music from my iPhone to my computer.

I hate how Apple tries to control the end-to-end user experience.


Apple. It just works.

Thanks for the offer. But I un-installed iTunes and won't get that crap (+ QuickTime) ever touch my computer again. I'm just going to re-download the music.

Now I don't understand why I can't just view the iPhone as a portable drive in Windows Explorer and copy music across. I can only view pictures there......

Honestly, there is NO reason why any software should behave like this. From a purely design point of view, it must have killed the programmers of iTunes to make such an intentional flaw in their software. I don't mind bugs as no software is perfect. But this was an intentional move by Apple

Look, I love my iPhone 3GS. For what it does, and the time it was released, it was simply awesome. But iTunes is utter crap. And now that alternatives have arisen (HTC, Droid, etc.), its time to out this bitch.

It's obvious that they didn't want you to plug your iPod/iPhone into your buddies computer and copy all your music to their HDD. They were most likely pressured by the recording industry rather than being a covert Jobs conspiracy.

I hate iTunes too, had trouble with it trying to move it's files to another drive (ssd filling up fast). Even with following apple's instructions on their website it didn't work for me and had to redo everything

You still need to sync the iPhone to the PC. Since iTunes recognises it as a "new" pc it will delete ALL music upon sync.

yes its been a POS for nearly 10 years, to be honest the win version of itunes is worse then realplayer ever was.

Now many other company's included software for PMPs is also shit, creatives zen software is shit and so was the prog from Cowon (iAudio), however at least with devices made by both those company's you can mount your player as a removable drive and just move music to it, no syncing bullshit needed.

That's a lie. Realplayer installed a bunch of crapware/adware from almost the start (and no, Quicktime does not count). Plus Realplayer tried for years to push a paid version and gimped the free version.

There's your problem right there. Ever since the first iPod blessed us with it's presence you have been unable to copy from iPod to computer. Everyone knows this. Blame the music industry as much as Apple.

itunes was awesome when it first came out. It is just bloated now. What sucks though is that itunes is actually among the easier to use mp3 to device transfer programs.

my friend brought his ipod over so i could put music on it for his party, and it said the same thing. he had a few apps and shit on there and he said to go ahead and sync it cause he could get all that crap back.

low and behold, i put all my music on it for the party, and i start browsing the ipod, and everything is still on there...

i think you just can't modifiy any of the other stuff on it however, so you maybe woulda been SOL anyways.
