After multiple investigations it was determined that Hillary broke no laws. If after a thorough investigation we find the same about Ivanka then great. Until then, lock her up and lock you up for defending her.

I see no need to waste time and money to try to get back at Trump through Ivanka.

I said it with Hillary and I'll say it here. There should be a specific law banning the use of private email for government business. Until there is actual movement to paying such a law, though, anyone bitching about it is just trying to score political points.

They should look to make sure she didn't purposefully send classified data and tell her to stop using a private email and move on. Although there was classified data in Hillary's emails, they found no intent to disclose and what was publicly released showed most of it was sent to her and were things like a link to a NYT article that discussed a classified program.

Of course, no Republicans cared about going after the people who actually sent the classified data to her.

Yes & no. Ivaka has had security clearance, she is the Presidents daughter. The President has proven he can’t keep his mouth shut.

What distinction are you attempting to draw, specifically? Ivanka is clearly an extremely high ranking public official who clearly has access to and participates in discussions involving highly classified information. She is conducting government business over a private email server.

If Republicans are being consistent they will immediately demand a congressional investigation into this conduct, one that I assume you will wholeheartedly support. Is that correct?

Because they didn't find much when they investigated her. Basically, if she broke the law it was minor, and probably would not get a conviction. We won't know if that is true for Ivanka or not until we investigate.

Maybe it is not to get back at Trump, maybe we should do it simply to hold our government employees to a standard of transparency.

Our political system is literally a tit-for-tat system. It was designed that way from the very beginning. That is the ONLY way it works. That is the checks and balances. That is the winner take all party system. That is what it means to be a Democracy.

There is, several in fact.

The Presidential Records Act requires that all records, including all emails, be maintained by the agency.

NARA regulations do not allow federal employees to use private email for official use.

Section 1924 of Title 18 states that housing classified information at an unauthorized location is subject to a fine or a year in prison.

Finally, section 3102 of The Federal Records Act requires that the agency 'have effective controls over the creation and maintenance and use of records' which many of her emails would be.

In the end it was decided that a lot of these regulations did not apply to Hillary because as Secretary of State she was the head of the agency, and since the laws state that it is the head of the agency that must ensure the maintenance of the records, she did have control of her own records. Ivanka is just a federal employee. She is not the head of an agency.
