Am I missing the fun and addictive part everyone talked about?
Here is what I suggest:
1) Join a good guild
2) Get to a decently high level (30+) and go on a PK rampage (PvP servers only)
3) Max out your character and wait for the battlegrounds.
I spent many long hours playing WoW and it did not become boring until I reached level 50. Once I did hit 50 though, the game became quite boring, and I decided not to renew my subscription. I am going to wait until battlegrounds are implemented before reactivating my account.
That being said, as of now, there is very little to do in WoW except leveling and getting good equipment (sadly enough...I'm a huge fan of UO and the gameplay in WoW could not be more different.) Sooner or later, the realization that the game involves nothing more than killing countless and repetitive monsters in a similar and repetitive manner becomes apparent. Hopefully, the planned battlegrounds will change that, as Blizzard has announced their plan for the battlegrounds is to make players feel like they are part of a large battle, ala Warcraft 3.
