I wouldn't bother in that region for that low of pay.

$2k/month is what I plan on budgeting at the most on rent+utilities. $75k/yr * 0.625 = $46,875. 46875 / 12 = 3,906.25/month.

So, I'd be spending a little over half of my income on rent+utilities. It's how it goes. I'd still have about $1900/month left for food, insurance, and so forth. That's maybe an extra $500/month. $1400/month left for whatever else.

For me, $1400/month would be alright. It's not that much. I almost netted that much back when I was in school and lived in Seattle but whatev. I don't live in Seattle anymore.

No one listens to my advice :/

Very skeptical of that place.

I'd be surprised if I received an offer for anything less than $70k/yr. I've seen it hover around $80k with a significant amount in the $90k+ region. I doubt I'll get the $90k-100k+ offers. I'm hedging more around the $70k-80k region.

Alright, I'll try one more time: forget SF. Go to Midwest. Hell, you are driving around already. Kansas City, Madison, Denver, etc. are much cheaper and you might pull $60K+ as starting salary. But rent there won't cost you even a grand.

If you were super talent or have half decade of experience, you can pick SF and employer. But you are not there yet. Working in what you like to call fly over zone will give you nice enough bucks and give you nice experience that will be your selling point later.

Midwest too cold, too boring? enjoy the basement then.

I was serious about my company.

Michigan is hurting for tech people. $60k isn't hard to get and rent at the nicest tower apartment isn't even $2k. That's 40th floor in the middle of downtown.

Did no one notice the title of this thread was a little suspect to begin with?

"I've been traveling for over a month now....make it stop"

I'm doing the traveling, but you guys over there in internet land, you have to stop me. From traveling. Oook.

Make it stop. Make what stop?

You'd want this lazy entitled shit working for your company? I would think after a little while his manager would be pissed at you.

Yep truth is so. Even very desirable locations are hurting for tech people. Their problem is that they can't hire talent without shelling out some serious $$ due to the cost of living.

The less desirable locations are even in worse shape. They still need talent, but it is even harder to grab the best because coastal regions pay much more.

End result is that sane person with BS degree can find a job in a week.

my unborn son isn't even this clueless.

now he says he won't get anything less than 70k lolol!
Driving around the country looking for a job with barely any work experience is not the wisest way. You can't be picky. A degree in whatever you took in college is not a guarantee that you'll land a ideal paying job right after graduation. Getting in the door first and learn to adapt with the work culture of the company. You'll have to prove yourself first before you'll even see anything near $70k. Build up a work resume after some time (2-3 years).

Stop wasting your time driving around like a dog chasing it's tail. ^_^

Good luck, you'll need lots of it.

He bangs his head into the wall yet even that doesn't stop him, he just goes right back to it. You know why? Because it was fun.

You know that thing that people say where a college degree is the new highschool diploma? Well start applying to high-school level education jobs and bendover. What the $%^# did you think they meant when they said it?

Hell I have a two year unrelated degree and I'm doing better than the OP. I wasn't afraid to start at the bottom, either - and it's worked out quite well for me so far.

Started from the bottom now we here!!!!

No but for reals, he thinks he qualifies for a $70-80k a year job, with basically 0% experience/extraordinary skills. I find that amusing.

I suppose with alkemyst being banned, Trident will have to do. lol

Perma banned?!?!? Link to thread in which said ban worth offenses took place?

Plus, we figure dozens of ppl flaming him for long enough will eventually overcome his stubborn ways.

Besides, if he didn't secretly love the attention, he would have just stopped posting. But, he doesn't, so...
