I had to go 3/4 up the list to "Train control foreworker", whatever that is, to break 80k base. Doesn't look entry-level to me.

I found a "station agent" at 135k. HOLY FUCK

Jeez.

Make sure you're looking at the actual salary though - it (somewhat deceptively) defaults to "total cost of employee," while saying "SALARY" in big bold font. Glassdoor reports an average wage of $31/hr.

KC, Madison (lol wtf), Denver, etc. don't have many entry level software jobs. I should know, I've applied.

Mmmkay?

On the upside, another company contacted me for an interview yesterday. I did a technical interview today. I thought I didn't do well on it but I cleared for the second round of technical interviews. So, whatev.

Both are in SF.

I made a little online portfolio for my website too. Of course, I need to add a third project. Right now the third project on there is bullshit.

#1. that is 10.6 hours a day, nearly 3 hours extra of work a day.

#2. it's not 2x the salary, it is 1.7x

yeah ... not a chance in hell i'd ever consider that as a normal work schedule. i value and enjoy my free time.

so what you're saying is...it's better than any entry level job I could get as an accounting major (even with the big 4) working less hours, and without the 4 year degree requirement.

dear god why didn't I know about this in 2005!??!?!?!

It's also not necessarily 10 hour work days, it could be 6 day workweeks. My MIL works for Amtrak and she gets a ton of overtime, usually by working 6 days/week.

working 6 days a week is even worse imo. my wife has had schedules like that and it's terrible. but yes, i was obviously averaging it on a normal work week schedule.

I did 6 day weeks a lot when I was in sales. I did regular 7 day weeks when I was a restaurant manager. You get used to it and you honestly enjoy your time off a lot more. You really appreciate it.

I really think people like Tridentgirl are missing out. A huge part of who I am came from learning a strong work ethic. I learned that ethic working shitty jobs that didn't pay well. The reward from them was new skills and a better way of thinking.

If I had told the CEO at my interview that working anything over 40 hours was completely out of the question, I never would have gotten in.

Here's what I don't understand: Tridenthing is dead set against working anything over 40 hours. What the fuck is he planning on doing when he's not working that will take up so much time? Its sure as hell not dating.

What is this about everyone mentioning Alky? I recognize his name, but I don't know much about him.

Was he a good troll poster? Good examples for me to check out?

He's in for a shock if he gets a job when a project is about to go live and he's expected to work late hours and the weekend to ensure it goes live, he'll be sorry I have a dance I have to go to..... I'm sure he let's them know during the interview his demands.

I hate to admit it but Alky would have made this thread better.

Well I can try my best to imitate him if it helps:

"Pfffft, the OP doesn't even lift, bro!"

"You jelly, brah?"

"Yeah, he mad."

"What do you drive, bro?"

Better?
