I've decided to bail on the idea of an internship...

I am curious, are you getting a bachelors degree? I believe most universities require an internship or similar work experience for graduation.

Anyways good luck on your venture. It might be hard to get clients with little epxerience. But maybe you can find a friend with experience and have him code while you do the selling.

Hm. Mine didn't.

Mine doesn't either, but I'd imagine you'd have a hard time finding a job straight out of college without any experience.

Agreed. I've been out for almost a year now without much luck. Location is awful though, too. I've got an interview at the best company around here on Friday though. It just sucks to have waited so long for it.

Internship is definitely the best option OP.

Are your degree's from accredited programs?

I am curious because the few people I know(including myself) all had a requirement for an internship or similar work experience coordinated with our schools.

Yes, they both are from accredited programs. Michigan State University does not have any degree granting programs that are not accredited.

This.

I knew a jewllery artist at my last job. She did IT by day, and made/showed her art off by night/weekend/lieu day. Why not at least have a suckass $50+k/year job to supplement yourself. No one likes the 9-5 grind, they just do it for money or to finance their real goals until they go crazy and quit.
