I've finally been burned by Bestbuy.

Funnily enough, the laptop is only 15 days old and has developed a bunch of bleeding pixels. There is a line of dead pixels on the bottom of the screen also.

Best Buy refuses to replace the laptop since it is over the 14 days return policy, and Acer refuses to fix it because it was bought at Best Buy.

The Geek Squadder I saw claimed that it was abuse. I was like, how the fuck is it abuse, do you see any physical damage to the laptop? He said there is no way a laptop can just develop these pixel problems unless it took a hit or something.

I wanted to beat the living fuck out of this kid, seriously the fucking smug look on his face made me want to plant a fucking bat to his head.

Unfortunately, my nephew paid for the laptop cash, and there is nothing else I can think of. Acer refuses to fix it under warranty...it is not their problem.

Anyone have any experience with Acer warranty support with Bestbuy? The laptop is BRAND NEW, and this is pissing me the hell off.

I am so fekking pissed off. My nephew is struggling with money, and wasted his graduation money on this stupid ass laptop. I am considering buying him a new laptop from dell out of my own pocket, but I don't really have that kind of money.

Any warranty on it?

I meant to say straight manufacturer warranty.

According to our system, this unit was purchased from Best Buy.

Best Buy is an Authorized Service Center for this Acer product, please visit your local Best Buy store for technical support and repair.

That's what gets me, they want me to go through best buy, since they are an authorized depot repair center. Best Buy won't fix it because their Geek Squadder said it was abuse. I will call Acer again tomorrow to see what the heck is up.

If I knew that this laptop would have been warrantied through Best Buy, and NOT THROUGH ACER THEMSELVES, I would have never recommeded this laptop to my nephew.

I honestly believe that Best Buy should have disclosed that warranty repairs had to go through them, and I plan to file a formal complaint against the store, and ACER themselves.

It's all I can do.

Call in ask to speak with a upper manager, usually if you insist you can get some results.

Go back to best buy and refuse to leave until you get some results. If the store manager isn't there, ask for the regional manager. If the regional manager isn't there, ask for his boss. Keep going up. Tell them to wake the president of the company up if they have to. Make a lot of noise, but be polite. Don't leave until you get a firm commitment that something will be done and you get it in writing.

Go to both the best buy and acer websites and find their investor relations phone number. in the past I have found they are the best choice when you want to get something fixed. what they don't like to hear is you will buy a share of stock and go to the stockholder meeting and dump the product on a table and tell your story.

*With a smug, smirky face* "Sir, you laptop has been abused. Pixel problems don't happen like that unless you physically hit it or something."

"Oh sir, can you knock the slice my fucking face with a katana after I sarcastically told you of your problems."

Speak to a manager at best buy and tell him how you're "outraged over the abuse you received from the member of the geek squad." Then bring up your problem.

That would probably work with most retailers but lets face it, worsebuy sucks and will have him arrested.

This is true. They've had other people arrested for refusing to leave.

Theres no such thing as an assistant manager at Bestbuy. Take it in to the Geek Squad. Have them send it out to Geek Squad City (or the equivalent Chino, CA). The store does NOT make the determination on physical abuse. IF, and i'm only saying this to cover all bases, it was physical abuse, you'll be given an estimate on repair. If you refuse that estimate, there will be (99% of the time) a balance due to cover shipping/diagnostic at the repair facility. If there wasn't physical abuse, it'll be fixed and sent back with zero balance due as everything will be covered by the MFW. I've worked with the Geek Squad for over 1.5 years, I know the process very well.

Maybe we should all email their customer Service address. We should all say that we are outraged and will boycott the company if they dont fix this laptop immediately.

The ATOT effect might work.
