I must be stupid, newegg has already screwed me over four times in the last 7 years or so. Because of their great deals, after stewing for a few months, I always start ordering again.
At least $25,000 in business, I guess I deserve this treatment.
Dear Valued Customer,
Thanks again for shopping at Newegg.com.
We recently received your RMA and your return was then sent to our Inspections Department for closer examination. We regret to inform you that this item bears a warranty that is only valid through the end-user of the product; unfortunately your Newegg warranty cannot be honored.
We received back item#14-150-436 missing the UPC code. UPC code has been cut/removed from the retail box. Products missing UPC codes or serial numbers from the box are NOT returnable. Our Vendor will not accept returns that are missing the UPC code. Only the product manufacturer can replace any defective item missing the UPC code.
RMA Denied, Return to customer.
Newegg cannot receive return credit for some of the products we sell because the warranty from the product manufacturer explicitly requires that any returns, repairs etc. be requested and processed directly by the consumer (or "end-user") of the item. If Newegg were to accept the return, we would be unable to send it back to the manufacturer and would therefore be forced to take a loss for the cost of the item.
Because Newegg would be facing a loss if we were to replace this item, we are returning the product to you and recommending that you contact the manufacturer directly to request that they repair or replace the item under your manufacturer's warranty. Please visit the following link to view a listing of all the manufacturers whose products we carry: http://www.newegg.com/app/cont...anufacturer.asp?DEPA=0
If you have any questions or concerns, please direct your inquiries to rmainspect@newegg.com or call 1-800-390-1119 during regular business hours for immediate assistance.
Kindest regards,
I bought the video card, it arrived, I tested it, it worked. Cut off the UPC to get a $20 mail-in rebate. After less than one week the XFX HD 4870 1GB died and when I checked my newegg account for that very item it was eligible for an RMA. They sent me an RMA # and I paid $10 to ship it back.
The item is still available at newegg and it states that it has a Standard Vga Return Policy, which is listed as 30-days for replacement.
WTF!!!!!!! Yes, I'm mad, this isn't the first time newegg pulled crap like this.
For the newegg rep that lurks in these forums, don't even both posting. Just letting other people know how one can expect newegg to stand behind their word.
I will try and return the video card to the manufacturer, I bet they will honor it UPC or not.
I don't want newegg to try and fix it at this point. If I can't get a replacement from XFX then I would rather be out the cost and buy elsewhere permanently.
Yes, I damn mad and I think I have good reason. Just for this issue alone, not to mention past problems!
