I wonder if you could still count on your air cooler IF Haswell also shows similar temp issues. You could either keep your SB and your air cooler till the end of time or actually find ways to overcome the heat issue. Plus you haven't considered my 30C+ ambient temps during the day.

Haswell might end up hotter with more IPC and IGP improvements.

What kind of IVB temps/performance should I expect out of a Hyper 212+? Would 4.3ish be reasonable? Basically I want to only overclock without increasing voltage and keep good temps.

Temps are influenced by the ambient temp of your room, case airflow, as well as the load on the cpu. Throw in the voltage required to get to your desired overclock and it's a who knows till you try it I guess

The x264 benchmark encodes the same HD video in to a x264 file format.

Bitrate(kb/s) should be identical for every run in order to have an apples to apples comparison.

As you have said, it is the FPS that we care about.

oh that's the bitrate of the MOVIE!! HAH! NOT how many bits per second are being processed... So, I'm just curious why that value is included...

4.4 seems reasonable for a hyper 212+. I have a venom x and my temps are fine.
