Has anyone actually bought a chip yet? I think I may be able to get one before sunday which would be nice.
Yep. Got one

Yeah, ok... need to re-poll... not going to wait another week + shipping to get this thing, just bought a 2550K, all about cool running... really kind of annoyed I think this thing is just a tinkle better than sandy. Really kind of pointless to "wait" for desktops, but should be a great upgrade for ultrabooks and laptops, although ultrabooks are going to have to wait, which is a shame because this new integrated graphics really suites them the best.
Honestly, not going to notice a difference between ivy and sandy, you could set up two systems side by side and you would be hard pressed to find anyone who could actually notice the difference in the CPU I bet, or doing a One-way ANOVA testing the response of the participants you would probably not see a statistically significant response suggesting the two are different.
If your on a budget I guess wait, but I spend 10$ on lunch every day so if I can buy today for $10, I'm going to.
You just wasted 229.99 because you couldn't wait 4 days?
Time is money but no 3570k or 3770k
Waiting on the 3770K as well bro.
Same here

I just got one as well ^.^ (edit: 3770k)
I am gonna spend the next 3 hours lapping the heck out of it so I'll probably have results posted sometime tonight/tomorrow with a NH-D14 + mirror lap. I'm hoping for 4.8 and expecting no less than 4.6.

ps: If you are from Ontario PM me and I'll tell you how you can get one
I don't remember seeing any mainstream Intel CPUs that are from Costa Rica. AFAIK, there are only mainstream CPUs from Malaysia and higher end ones like servers and LGA2011 are from Costa Rica. Not quite sure how much of a difference it makes considering that the fact that Costa Rica and Malaysia are only packaging facilities, not fabs.Got a 3370k already, eh?
Start posting ASAP!
Please note the batch and origin (Malay vs. Costa Rica) before you lap please!
If the temps aren't that huge of a difference from lapping, would you experiment with delidding that CPU to see if it made any difference in temps afterwards? Either way, you've already voided the warranty. It was Malaysia. Not sure about numbers on the processor itself, but the box says batch L202B764. I just finished lapping which took about 3 hours. It's going to take me a few hours probably to build the system, setup raid, install windows, and get to overclocking. Just having a cigarette break at the moment cus lapping is a lot of work :s
Btw, is that the same batch that the hong kong chips were or different?
