Four years later, first hot deal post. Onkyo HTS760 6.1 - $299

Subject says it all...I bought this HT setup recently and must admit that, for the price, I don't think there's a home theater setup that can match it. If you live in NYC, this is a hot deal.

Slightly warm if you're not in the NYC area. In fact, with shipping it brings the price to about 400, so you might as well get a non-refurb for $449 with free shipping.

I've had the refurb for a couple of weeks and have had nothing but great results. The receiver alone is worth the price. Excellent with movies and quite good with music - warm, somwhat laid-back sound. That might be a negative for some of you Klipsch fans, but cranking the treble up remedies that a bit. Enjoy!

I bought a set of the sks-ht510's today at jandr for 199 with free shipping (this setup w/o the receiver). Thats a damn hot deal if you ask me. Good reviews, and sounded good at circuit city. I already have the reciever, but this sounds good too, although its 100 shipping, and its a refurb. I'd get the speakers and a receiver elsewhere.

i dont like J&R... i ordered a laser printer from them and the box came with a hole the size of a softball. luckily the laser printer was ok...

Hmmm, the Onkyo SKSHT510's are $270 at CC. $200 w/free shipping seems hot... yeah?

Same thing happened to me! I ordered a Onkyo TX-SR601 a few weeks ago. It said in stock when I ordered. It turned out the item was in backorder. I finally got it in 3 weeks and the box had a big hole in it. Luckily the receiver seems fine. be careful with J&R.

I have this setup in my apartment and love it. The way I did it was go through bestpriceaudiovideo.com and got the speakers for 200 shipped, but iirc they are oos right now. and I got the receiver refurbed at ecost.com for like 150 or something, so 350 total. Its hard to get it at ecost though because they will get some in stock and sell them reallll quick, and if you order when they are oos or only have a few left sometimes they will cancel your order, their inventory system sucks. first thing to do is upgrade the cable to 12 or 14 gauge because the stuff that it comes with is useless.

I've never ordered an item online from J&R so I can't comment on that, but I have purchased several items, including the HT system, at their storefront. All were good experiences. I even exchanged an item without any hassles. That's why the above deal is probably hotter for NYC residents. Reseller Ratings has them at 5.0, with plenty of mixed reviews, so that affirms Tsunami and Welst's experiences.
