20' is still going to be more than $50 unless you are spacing them like crazy.

And hell you are building the panels yourself?

Most of the time if that much fence needs to be replaced you should be starting over. Think of your neighbors.

every redneck thinks they can install a new roof too...there is a reason for permits and it's not about the money.

I like how you assume an inspector is assumed competent, or beyond reproach.

I have seen many inspections pass with a $20-50 handshake/lunch + beers.

I had a friend that got his building inspectors license.
We were sitting outside his bedroom and he pointed to his 5' wide window and told me he was going to put a 6' slider in it's place. When I mentioned that he'd have to change out the header he didn't even know what a header was or what it did.

so how does this work anyway is the inspector just going to show up unannounced to inspect the work? everything is buttoned up at my place now and for the dude to see it he is going to have to crawl down a 2'x2' manhole then thru a trench in the crawl space about 50" to get to the furnace (I used to have to do this to replace the filter....)

yeah everyone is corrupt.....

difference is no permit can screw you in the future. I have seen home that have had to have all the windows pulled out and replaced due to not having a permit originally and worse.

The average permit is hardly a lot of money.
