Keep in mind just because he's clocking in for 16 hours a day doesn't mean he's doing anything during that time. He might be sitting on his ass on his phone for half of that.
404 outrage not found. dude worked OT - take it up with BART for allowing an infinite amount of OT to the point where a janitor does make 270k.
BREAKING NEWS - GUY WORKS 18 HOURS A DAY AND MAKES A LOT OF MONEY - MORE AT 11.
/caps
Sounds like he works harder than 75% of the people bitching
good for him
Yeah, but it's misguided and very much further from the truth.repeating all of these comments in a post of its own to display my endorsement of the messages within.
I like that.repeating all of these comments in a post of its own to display my endorsement of the messages within.
Any REAL employer with a MANAGER that isn't RETARDED would realize the overall monetary costs of paying someone time and 1/2 isnt't reational. The point simply being, I blame the manger for paying obscene princes that are unworthy in the real world
how so?Yeah, but it's misguided and very much further from the truth.
wha?!I used to work construction...and I worked a BUTTLOAD of overtime every week...usually 6-12's, but sometimes 7-12's or more.
for me, 7-12's was pretty lucrative. I made about $4500 per week for 7-12's...but I COULD NOT do that day in, day out, every week...after a few months, I'd cut back to working 40 hours per week for a few weeks...then back to the grind. (keep in mind, I USUALLY commuted 4-6 hours per day on top of my work hours)
work is a strong word in this thread. The works a shit ton of hours, doing a crappy job. He deserves to get paid.
If the guy actually worked during those hours more power to him but I feel people who put in some unrealistic hours more often than not are just gaming the system.
wha?!
2-3hrs each way?
you lives 100+ miles from work?
wouldn't it be more efficient to rent a basement near work for $300/month?
did have a company truck? or at least a company gas card?
Yes, about 100 miles each way. I got decent gas mileage at the time...and it's the Bay Area...you can't rent a parking space for $300/month. PLUS, my work locations and companies changed from time to time...no easy (or affordable) way to find a "central" location that would eliminate the commute entirely.
I imagine driving that crane down 101 or 80 every day is hell on time and hell on gas, no?
May be anecdotal, but from what I've seen and experience, doesn't look like there were a lot of cleaning happened in the BART or MUNI stations. What I see are often the inefficiencies stereotypical of government, or unionized workers on display. Standing around, working on their cellphones instead of doing any actual work, congregating in groups and generally just bullshitting while one guy pretends to work, etc...how so?
I should consider changing my job to something that allows me to exploit government incompetence.

but then you wouldn't be making a million a year
You can't really be honest with yourself if you don't think there are rampant abuse going on with that system. A few years back, a lot of the MUNI workers were exposed as gaming the system with the overtime and sick days as well. But, I digress...
Yup, it was sickening. One common way for BART employees is to call in sick for your regular shift, which you would still get paid for. Then immediately volunteer for the OT shift that you just created.
Err what are the supervisors doing? That is ground for dismissal right there. Also, that's three weeks, what happens with the other 47 (assuming two weeks vacation)? One common way for BART employees is to call in sick for your regular shift, which you would still get paid for. Then immediately volunteer for the OT shift that you just created.
