I agree. I think Japan is messed up morally, period. I'd help a Chinese person before I'd ever help a Japanese, Chinese people seem to be more at peace. But overall, I don't particularly like either. Japan is an extremely randy country. I've heard that child porn was almost legal until the U.S. stepped in and stopped it. That's what I've heard, might not be real.

I'm not a fan of their games either. I think American games have and will always be better. (id Software , Blizzard, Epic, etc.)

If I ever make it into the gaming industry, All American Developers was going to be the name. (No, that American pride didn't evolve from 9/11, it's always been there with my car. (1973 Dodge Challenger 340 Four Barrel) )

This thread doesn't change the fact that Godzilla was one of Japan's greatest creations.

Yeah, I always make sure I check someone's race/country before I help them. Especially if I think they're Canadian.

Yeah, that's bad. But just about every country has skeletons in the closet, not quite teaching the whole story of their past screw-ups, honoring people who weren't really very noble, etc. America is certainly NO exception to this.

98% of all Japanese don't know fvck about what happened in WW2(thanks to censorship)
...they only feel the US friggin bombed them for nothing and as far as their
concerned, they did no wrong to deserve that.

trust me i have close japanese relatives. Its called nonchalance and ignorance...hand-in-hand.
plus a LOT of the major companies in Japan like Mitsubishi..etc..had a dirty hand in the japanese war.

uh, i don't think so. what japan did is on par with the holocaust. america does not have anything remotely similar.

why are you all trying to justify america/japan's acts in history?

admit it, even if the us was just as bad as japan, that still doesn't make either of them less messed up for their actions.

either way, both were wrong at times, though i seem to feel much more strongly about the cruelty and wrongdoing of japan during wwii.

btw, let me just say that all you people talking about how bad america is, and how bad the history education is, etc, this just goes to show that the history education is really bad. if they spent nearly as much time on the japanese atrocities as they did on the german atrocities, you wouldn't be saying jack sh!t. you never hear anybody saying stuff like "yea, the nazis were bad, but america has done sh!t too". not comparable.

At least America doesn't distort their history no matter how big the embarassment.

So how many US history text books have you read?

When I took US History AP in HS, other than the required text, I had to read other things like Howard Zinn's "People's History of the United States" and several others which contain different opinions on what happened. The text book for the class, while somewhat decent, didn't nearly cover some of the details the other books mention.

I'm simply saying that Vietnam isn't hidden and hard to find information on.

No we don't. Or at least not in any history text I've ever read...

What text book are you reading?

We have a nation holiday.. columbus day. Columbus is not especially evil.. but he led the massacre of an entire island.. he was the one that first brought slavery and genocide to America(systematic). And we give him a national holiday? Don't get me wrong.. everyone was doing slavery and killing back then. But why do we celebrate this guy for discovering an island with people already on it... AND that has already been discovered by Europeans.

All the pioneers.. going west.. they had to kill indians so they could use their land.. our military had to fight off (and massacre) native so that settlers could move in.

There's a book called Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong good read.. i recommend it.

I think the japanese are worse by far though. I think they actually have generals that are still alive and need to be put on trial for war crimes.. oh well

I just wish every textbook in every country could tell the truth.. fat chance...

It shocks me that the US sent many soldiers to Vietnam without officially waging war. It shocks me that they don't give kick downs to certain vets. I'm very sure the soldiers never had their way with the vietnamese women either. Again, when Spain colonized most of the new world, they did NOT go with a bible in there hand. They tried to assimilate everybody. thanks for your time.

3. The history of thanksgiving is a lie.. but whats wrong with turkey?

4. The difference is that everyone knows it. Look at all the movies and books about vietnam that arent sugarcoated. Everyone knows what happened. And the crimes committed by US soldiers were not systematic and widespread.. and werent endorsed by the Goverment.
