Japanese Public Bathroom

My boss told me over lunch in Japan the public restrooms don't have toilet paper and random people on the street everywhere hand out little bits of toilet paper with ads on them. Anyone experience this before? How come Coppola didn't add this in Lost in Translation?

Edit: And he told me in the hotel room bathroom built-in to the toilet seat was one of the water shooters that clean your a$$-hole.

Edit 2: He also said that it is shameful for Japanese girls to be virgins, so they get their cherries popped by a professional (male prostitute?). Is that too much of a generalization or is it true?

Some places in Japan have toilets that play music and have little jets of water that clean you off. Those ones don't need toilet paper.

I have lived in Japan for 9 years, it sounds like your boss is full of Shi#......
Japan has many versions of the toilet, one that give you a massage, ones that heat up or cool down, they shoot water and clean your butt for you. I think perhaps he went into a restroon and it just so happened that they were out of paper.......
