Java in xp

With XP2600 IE browser, I visit some sites, it asked me to d/l. MS Java VM to install in order that I can read those Appelet.
But my computer always Hang during Java VM installation.
Why?
Any body can tell?
My xp2600 could not find shell32.dll program to install even shell32 is there(HDD/CD).
Is that the reason?

BTW: If I use Nescape, then No problem at all.

Try going to www.java.sun.com and downloading the real java plug-in. Microsoft had to stop development around Java 1.1, at which time java still sucked pretty bad. I use the Sun plugin all the time in IE6 without any problems.

BTW, if your comp is having a hard time finding shell32.dll then it sounds to me like your XP install is broken somehow. What else have you done to the machine to make it lose shell32.dll?? It should be located in the "windows\system32" directory. Make sure it is in there. If it still can't find it then you should probably reinstall xp.

I will try it.
I have no idea what shell32.dll do? Does it related to Java VM?
The shell32 is under Windows\system32. But during xp installation, it says can't install shell32, I don't know why?
It seems that No infuence of xp performance except Java VM from MS is no working.
And whether that is the reason or not is not clear.
