most of the IDE's ive seen arent that good ...
mainly because theyre too slow ... and they make you pretty damn lazy ...

FORTE was pretty cool but waaaay tooo sloooow ...
I'm using Borland JBuilder right now ... and its got some potential ...

the easiest way is just use a text edito (emacs is my favorite)

Ed: All the info on the disks is avaliable for free online, it's just INCREDIBLY conventient to have it all at your fingertips when you need it, since java.sun.com can be a pain to brouse sometime.

in the not-so-distant past, if you filled out the survey card included w/ the JumpStart CD, they'd send you a gift. I got a cheesy notebook w/ legal pad & a pen; it's actually semi-useful (if inexpensive). They already have your addy, so it's not like you have anything to lose by trying.

hahah, if you're a techie, just learn Java. Demand for Java developers is projected to outstrip supply for the next few years. Otherwise, you can give the software to someone who can use it.
