Java programs?

Which program do you prefer to program java with, Microsoft Visual J++ 6.0, or JBuilder 6? Depending on what you choose, why do you like it better? And, if you prefer a different program, all recommendation are welcome.

Try to stay away from Visual J++. MS changed some of the apsects to the Java language. JBuilder is the best Java tool that I have used yet. Plus, if you are a student there are great discounts at the campus computer sotre.

I believe i paid $120 for JBuilder 6 Professional. What a steal!

JBuilder all the way, hands down. Microsoft Java != Java. Nuff Said.

Just use your Notepad/DOS editor + Sun's Java SDK.... who needs those fancy programs to write java?

Using Notepad for coding is like using a machete to chop down a tree. It's an extremely primitive tool, with plenty of much better alternatives.

If you are a student you could just download the free version of JBuilder
which is Jbuilder 6 Personal Edition. You can get it from Borland.com
I believe. Doenst have some features enabled such as Beans ,...etc..
but well worth keeping your 120 bucks until you are sure you like it.

As everyone pointed out, stay away from J++.

Personally, I love Emacs, though it's not for everyone or for everything.

If you want an excellent IDE that's free download Oracles JDeveloper.

How does everyone think that JDeveloper compares to JBuilder? Is it better, worse, or right on par with JBuilder? I am very fluent in C++, fairly knowledgeable in Visual C++, and want to learn/teach myself Java (because I know that syntactically similar to C++).

Two other questions. If I download JDeveloper, will I be able to legally use the programs I create on my own personal website, or will that be breaking the licence agreement? And, I plan on buying Visual Studio .NET, and wanted to know if C# will be able to be used on the web?
