I just got 2, and some other stuff (like the free after rebate speakers Item # 14267161) to total $100 and then used the 25 off for new customers. Showed up fine on the confirmation page, and then on the receipt it only shows the 2 cdrw drives and the 25 off.... 2 cdrw drives for 60.25 after tax, and then minus 2 $50 rebates.....not bad....

Where are you getting that this is a $50 rebate? The only link from Iomega I have seen was $30 for the 12x and $50 for the 16x. This is the 12x burner, therefore the rebate should be $30...no?

Like others, I know I won't get it, since I got a CBO. However, I went ahead and placed the order for 2, just for kicks. If it doesn't come through, I've lost nothing since I don't need the burners, and don't expect them. If I get it after the rebate expires, I can still flea-bay this for enough to make my money back. If it comes within the rebate period, then I'll have scored another deal, thanks to the forums. No matter what, I can't lose.

Just got one from Bayshore OM in San Francisco. One more left there... but store employee I think took it. Fat Russian lady. I called them and told them to put both on hold but she said one per customer or something like that... which isn't listed anywhere on the ad. I called them back and said I'd bring somebody and she responded, too bad, somebody else already has it on hold... You can try bypassing that lady and ask directly to manager.

For you guys doing online orders, talked with a customer representative... if they can't fill your order and you used the 25 off 100 coupon then they'll still give you 25 off regardless.. she said it was policy as a courtesy to online purchases. So I put some cdrs and some paper clips in and I should get these next week. Since I think this drive is discontinued.. they won't be getting anymore but at least I get 25 worth of free stuff.

This is too good to be true, I can't see Iomega dropping their 12x burner, but I am that unlucky!

I hate this store by store inconsistency.
I called the big central Officemax here and asked if I came down to store could I get $39.95 online price
and he said without any hesitation (very firmly) "No, thats online only".

so how did Soma do this?

I used a printout of the online price and asked the B&M staff to PM.
After a brief discussion with the manager, he agreed.

However, the rebate was a real surprise to him when it was printed out automatically, anywayz by then my CC was charged and I had the CD-RW in my hand.
