I'm not sure how OM could mistype the rebate, not very easy to mistype a pdf file. Besides I think some people have posted on here that they've already received the $50 rebate, unless I'm mistaken.

WRONG!!!!!!! I'm sitting here looking at the rebate form and the box.......the UPC codes match, and the rebate is indeed $50.

Second, I must thank you virtuamike, for the link. After printing out the OM page and returning to the store (for the 3d time), I finally got the drive for the $39.99 (The "real"manager finally had shown up and was very helpul, too.) To top it off, the manager was the one to "clue" me in to the rebate.....I didn't know it existed.

So, in the end, I'm making almost $10 to take the drive...........sweet deal!

Got the "official" OM rebate directory right on my laps. page7 lists two Iomega rebates.
For $50 , listed two models, both are internal drives
the UPC# has to be 742709311208 (the 12x one) or 742709314292 (the 16x one)
For $30, listed three models, all for external drives.
Anybody know how many different 12x drives Iomega make? We may not get the exact UPC ones, then again, we may not get any at all

Did you look at the IOMEGA link I provided? It has the same ADDRESS to send the rebate to. Don't you think it's weird that the 2 rebate forms are IDENTICAL, down
to the address, and yet the OM one has $50? Hey go ahead and try it - it's worth a try, but don't be surprised when it doesn't work.

Actually rickforrest, I'm not worried in the least..............despite any link you can put up, I'm sitting here with the form/paperwork from OfficeMax and quite clearly has $50 rebate for this particular drive.

Rest assured, it WILL work. I have NEVER had any problems with any rebate from OfficeMax, and I have used them numerous times. (I live in a small town and OM is the only game here....so it's either online, which I really don't like using too much if there is a local retailer with a price close to it, or locally. I prefer locally purchased because I do appreciate the ability to just walk into the store and exchange it and have the new one in minutes, vs. weeks with online stores....if the online co. will exchange it at all.)

And no, I don't think it's weird that the same mailing address has numerous different rebates going to it...........how many addresses do you think Iomega uses for rebates? The answer is ONE.

And it's not weird that OM has different rebates vs. some other stores...........the rebate form in the OM booklet, for instance, has OM ONLY rebates........gotta provide an OM receipt or the rebate is no good.

Instead of bashing forrestjunior, do some homework before screaming. You're starting to sound like Chicken Little.

I went to my local OfficeMax, they have none in stock(Stony Brook, NY)

I ordered 2 online last night, and yes, mine is CBO and the shipping date is 12/5 too.
I guess we will see

Think about it, even w/o the rebate, $39.99 is still hot for a retail box 12X burner.

I bought this drive about a month and a half ago during the same rebate promotion. The rebate is indeed for $50 as I have already received it (took about 4 weeks). This is a great deal but there seems to be very few drives around. I went to my local Officemax and had them check a 200 mile radius and came up empty handed. They also told me that this item was inactive in the system so they wouldn't be getting anymore. The drive that I got a month and a half ago was a Plextor and I love it. The newer drives in the purple boxes are Lite-Ons with burnproof and work quite well.

Plextor, Lite-On, Sanyo, doesn't matter to me as long as they ship my order out to me and the rebates come through.

Hmm.. mine came ina Purple box and it's a rebadged Plextor. I've alreade changed the ID string to Plextor and upgraded the Firmware to Plextors 1.09 and it works great.

I guess you were offering your own "interpretation" or perhaps "paraphrasing" from somewhere else on the website...BUT I'll quote the Customer Service page explanation about status CBO:

Backordered items or CBO items will be held for seven business days. If after seven days we are unable to complete the order, you will be notified that we are canceling those items.[/i] >>

Printed ourt receipt from on-line order and went to store in Cinti OH. The store did not have the item on shelf.
Had sales person check stock and they had them in stock. The manager matched the online price. Just tell
them you called the corporate office and they said they must match. Drives are Lite-on. I almost kept one
when they were on sale at $109 with $50 rebate. This was a sweet deal, thanks. As I remember someone
posted the $50 rebate was being honered from the $109 deal from a few weeks ago.

I just called the 1800 # for OM. I asked if I printed out my receipt frm the email and brought it to the store would they match the price. He said they would but they would have to call the head office to comfirm it but it shouldnt be a problem.

I just went in to office max b&m. They said they didnt have any of the iomega 12x10x32 because they were on sale yesterday morning. So she said she will give me the iomega 16x10x40 for the same price of $39.99. It is burnproof. It also comes with a $50 rebate which she gave me. So I will still make ten dollars and a faster drive.

Went to my local CompUSA to PM. It turns out that they have tons of this drive in-stock. CompUSA sells it for $150 (who's going to buy it at that price?). Walked out of the store with 4, they actually put a limit on the # of items that I could PM. Suckers.
