This is correct. It's the engine out of the 323 Turbo, minus the turbo, so you still get the beefed up rods/crank, etc of a turbo car. However, if my memory serves me well the NA car didn't come with piston oil spray, but the NB engines did. I could be wrong, though.

I think you're partly correct, I believe the 1.8L NA engine does not have oil jets, but the 1.6L NA engine does.

I don't know much about the NB engines except that the internals are weaker, and the head flows intake/exhaust better.

Drained the oil from the catch tank, refilled the sump, and took it for a spin earlier tonight. No more oil in the catch tank so far, which is good news. We'll see after another drive or two. Averaging about 20mpg right now... definitely needs the fuel leaned out a bit!

In other good news, my girlfriend was riding with me and said: "this really isn't that loud" ... she might be sticking around for a while

Time to eliminate boost creep altogether and go with EWG / dump to atmosphere? :awe:

Got my in-car laptop mount and tuning cable today, also purchased a copy of Tuner Studio for the MegaSquirt (so much better than MegaTune). Let the tuning begin!

Here is a video of my new interior setup with the laptop mount. My 11.6" laptop hasn't arrived, so I used my girlfriends 10.1" netbook.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4tm9uwAoZg

All of the gauges are customizable, all have peak-hold, different gauge setups are available (this one is the most low-light friendly), access to every tuning option you can imagine. I am so excited to start tuning again I can barely contain myself.

Sweet! Does it have a ROM emulator for real time editing while the engine is running?

You bet your Mustang lovin' ass it does! Also, it has a hard boost protection limit, fuel cut and everything. Setting to 205kPa MAP (about 15PSI of boost).

Edit: Also has launch control, traction control, and flat shift control. I have a ton to play with.

Started to do some tuning, and it's turning out really well so far.

Worked on the idle, warm idle used to be 1100-1200 rpm, got it dialed down to about 900. I also got the warm idle AFR up from 11-12 to 14.2 or so. Dialed back the ASEs, but it could use a little more work.

Did some full-throttle data logs, but the top-end part of the tune is very good so I did have to work on much. I imagine PseudoSport had done quite a bit of datalogging during full-throttle 1/4 mile runs to get that dialed in

Did some part-throttle pulls, again with data logging, and found a few small areas that needed smoothing. A few slightly rich areas, a few slightly lean areas, but overall not too bad. I also bumped the whole spark map up by 2 deg, which seemed to help the responsiveness of the car. I am going to try another global bump of 2-3 deg and see how it feels. Maybe up to another 5 deg, we shall see.

So far I absolutely love Tuner Studio and integrated MegaLog Viewer, I can edit VE (fuel) and spark tables while reviewing data logs, it makes this part so easy.

A screen shot of a MegaLogView session:

Passed inspection yesterday

Also installed new shifter boots on Sunday, jusding by the condition of the old ones they were the original shift boots.

Next up is a full compliment of fluid changes: seafoam then engine oil and filter, transmission oil, probably diff oil, and maybe brake fluid.

When it comes time for brake fluid, I have a vacuum bleeder..

Sweet... I just need to buy some more stainless braided brake lines, I already have two (rear brakes I think) and a stainless braided clutch line. I will replace everything at once I think.

Megalog looks cool, but I don't understand it. Can you explain the graphs and maps on the right a little?

EDIT: lulz, I can see what the graphs are now I looked at the pic properly...

Haha, the graphs are recorded sensor values, there are several dozen to choose from. I use the top set to figure out where in the data log I did the pull, and the bottom one to work on making changes to the fueling map (I haven't really done anything special with the spark map yet). I like seeing TP (throttle position) Boost or MAP (manifold absolute pressure) and AFR (air fuel ratio) on the same plot. Basically it tells me what I was asking the engine to do, what the turbo is doing, and what changes I'll need to make to the fueling map. (I'm sure you know what the acronyms stand for, just being clear )

For eminent convenience the charts on the right shows me what cells the MS is looking at (and previously looked at) to dispense fuel and advance spark and the relative weight given to each cell (denoted by how yellow-shaded the cell is). If I see a lean peak on the AFR plot, I move the graph center over it (that vertical line) and it'll show me what cells I need to add more fuel to.

Thanks! And yes you do

I've been dyiung to mega squirt something for YEARS!

Your project bike could go full EFI and Spark as soon as B&G release the next version of the Microsquirt. Same MS chip, built in COP ignition drivers, fuel injector drivers, weatherproof, excellent wiring harness connector, very small and easy to mount, designed for motorcycles...

yup seen it!

more $$$ than the project bike calls for, since its pretty stock power wise a well done jetting is all I need......

maybe if I keep it for a few years I will do more, but its got a year or work ahead of it. hopefully I'll be riding it this fall to work out gremlins

Gave it a wash and a wax the other day... been raining continuously since.

At least the rain is beading on the now waxed paint and the leak seems to have fixed itself.

Got a little more oil spraying out today... and a little coolant...

It is clear that the rev limiter is not working (I hit well over the 7100rpm limit) and launch control isn't working either. Spark advance doesn't display on tuner studio either... something is amiss and I think it's all related.

Turns out that the "hard rev limit" was not set to kick in until the redline was exceeded for 5 SECONDS

Also, launch control was not enabled... even though TunerStudio clearly indicated "Launch On" :hmm:

I will set the rev hard limit (fuel cut as opposed to the "soft" spart retard) at 0.1s after red line is exceeded and turn launch control on and try again tonight and see what happens.

ROFLMAO... about seventy bajillion... I must attract semi-critical, but mostly annoying, problems.
