jedi knight 2 - im stuck

I'm the 4th level or so, save the prisoners, blow up the ion cannon. I just blew up the 2 ion cannons and apparently you go back into the room with the landwalker things(from empire strikes back) and go around the catwalk to the door which should be open but it's not.....any suggestions

You deactivated the sheilds on the cannons, did you go back and destroy the cannons?

Have you patched your version of JK2? There's a problem with that level sometimes, where an ATST doesn't show up and causes Jan not to land and essentially keep you from going further.

If you've done both, just bite the bullet, pull down the console (shift + ~), type "helpusobi 1" (w/o quotes), then "noclip" (w/o quotes) and walk right through the door. When you get to the other side, repeat the process to turn off no clipping mode.
