Jedi Knight and Kyro II.....

Hi everybody,
at the weekend i was playing some older games including jedi knight - at least i tried to play it. installation and menu are ok, but when i start the game the screen is completely screwed up. I found a powervr patch at 3dfiles.com but that didn´t work. Anyone who knows a solution?

Do you have the latest versions of the Hercules drivers, DirectX and/or OpenGL (depending on which Jedi Knight uses, I don't know) loaded? If that doesn't work then you may want to write to Hercules/PowerVR and tell them about the problem. They've been pretty good about fixing bugs as soon as they can find them.

i have the latest powervr series 3 drivers installed and directx 8.0a. I also reinstalled everything including the via 4in1 ver. 4.31 but nothing helped.
Do you think they would care if would write them that a rather old game (but very good nonetheless) doesn´t work properly? I tend to doubt that but i might try it - anyway, thank you for your advise!

try to disable or enable some of the drivers options.. that might help..
I think that I can get that game ... I will try it ...(my neighbour have that game)

Ahh man, just when I had almost made up my mind now people are finding incompatibilites with games. Oh well guess its a Geforce II Pro. Doh.

I am sure that these game runs with kyro 2 like 99% of all games ...
even geforce 2 pro have problems with some games.
I will try jedi then I will tell you my experience..

well...
I installed jedi knight (dark forces 2 (1997))...
and I found the next problem...

when I click "play jedi knight" button ... a window pop up saying to install directx5.0 (LOL) I can't progress from here... it refuses to work.

when I do "analyze your computer" every single component of directx fails ...

but I found a way to enable jedi knight to work with my computer (directx8.1 build 620 windows 2000)...
IT's damn simple...

go to the installation directory usually
c:\program files\lucas arts\Jedi Knight
and click on JK.EXE

it actually works !!!
make a shortcut to jk.exe and put it on your desktop or where you like it...
and enjoy...

if you have jedi knight 1 then I can't help you..

I don't have that game...

dfloyd: Hercules has tested thousands of games with the 3D Prophet 4500, and has fixed most (if not all) of the issues that they have found. I have not had any problem with my Kyro II card in any of the following games with the latest patches:

Diablo II
Myth I
Myth II
Quake III
Starcraft
Total Annihilation
Total Annihilation: Kingdoms
Unreal Tournament

Get the Kyro II, you won't be disappointed!

dfloyd: hey, relax, i´ve tried some 50 games (or maybe it were just 48 , and this is the first game that doesn´t run right from the start without playing around with some settings or patches.
So you can save your extra bucks from not purchasing a pro
I will continue searching for a solution for this game, meanwhile, maybe someone else has found something?
Thanks to PowerVR, but unfortunately it didn´t work for me. Same thing as before (playing in software mode right now - man, this is ugly) I wanted to wait until i can play 3d accelerated but i couldn´t resist beating up some imperial badasses

LOL. Isn't that exageration going a little bit to far? Are they also testing every single shareware game that is out there too?

ahm, and hey, dfloyd, don´t forget: every new card had some minor problems at the start. I am by no means a nvidia hater or biased against them, but remember the first two or three driver sets for tnt or geforce cards?
Just allow the drivers to mature, wait a bit for directx 8.1 (as our friend PowerVR always says - i really hope it´ll be out soon) and we´ll see what the Kyro can do for us (next what it has already done for our purses )

You dont have to remind me of the new product driver problems as I am very familiar with them. I just dont want to be on the side of waiting and hoping that a new driver release will make the game which I just paid for work.

That is my biggest fear about the Kyro II. I have no idea what driver/industry support will be like for it. It sounds like a great card. Really fast, good fsaa and image quality. But I keep hearing about the stupid fogging problems in Counterstrike and some incompatibilites with other games. Thats one of the reasons I am not staying with my Ati card. I like counterstrike and when you get spammed with a stupid smoke grenade and drop to 15 fps it sucks.

I wish there was a Kyro II fan site that would start posting game tests. Not all details just if it started up and played fine with no artifacts. I know the majority works fine but would be nice to at least know which ones dont work.

I am developing a nvidia fan site. if someone wants to use my server, i can make room for a KyroII website as well but I don't have a KyroII so testing and comparison and other news for KyroII will have to be the responsability of that other person.
