All you people hate religion so much but I'd like to see the atheist churches that are taking in the homeless, feeding the families that are out of work, helping kids that are troubled turn there lives around, hating gays, holding back science and general education, etc.. You can't seem to grasp the simple concept of live and let live.

I suppose you can't seem to grasp the simple concept of pyramid-scheme salespeople not grasping the simple concept of "live and let live".

Besides, I like to think I'm helping more in the long run by not giving my life and money to organizations who lie to and dumb down the population as a means to more money and social/political turf control, but that's just me.

I've worked with those churches, and I can say that the people working at non profits that do this sort of work care just as much, if not more, than people doing it through a religious organization. Many of these people have graduate degrees and spend a lifetime working for peanuts (relatively speaking). Volunteering for a charitable cause on weekends because you're trying to fit in or you've had the fear of god put in you does not give you any points in my book.

If he wants them go away the last thing he wants to do is engage in any kind of theological discussion. Any kind of religious talk, even if you are arguing with them, with JWs is like throwing blood in shark infested waters. They'll swarm.

Don't get engaged in any argument or side issue. If they don't acknowledge your request directly, interrupt whatever else they try to say with, AGAIN, a firm and determined but simple and straightforward, " I do not, under any circumstance, want any of you to knock on my door ever again."

Then end the convo and shut your door.

Don't give them a chance to ratchet you up.

You're missing the point. JW are worse than 9/11 Truthers/Conspiracy Theorists (P&N GRENADE!!!). No matter how much evidence you have to disprove their interpretation of the facts, they are religious fanatics and, thus, are not susceptible to logic.

I made the huge mistake of talking to them.
I said "thanks very much but I'm not interested. Good bye."
Since thats a hundred times nicer than most people are, they have made the mistake of thinking I like them. Now they come around every 3 days or so.

I ignore them when they know on the door. Am afraid of talking to them. For those of you who dont know, I've had some pretty serious anger management issues my whole life. Only just recently (6 months or so) have I finally got on the track to dealing with them. If I go and talk to the Jehovas witnesses I dont think it will be as polite as "please stop coming here". I am afraid it will be more like a righteous ass chewing or worse.

Anyone have ideas as to how to keep Jehovas people from ever coming around again, THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE PERMANENT BODILY HARM?

HOA probably wont let me post any signs. Of course I doubt they fine me for such an infraction. Particularly if the sign were really nice.

Just ask them why they are so insecure in their beliefs that they need new converts to validate them. And why it is 2010 and they are still here on Earth, is it another failed Revelation.

This is assuming that the witnesses count as solicitors. If not...I dunno.

This also assumes that they're smart enough to know what soliciting means. The clowns that go around my neighborhood, offering to cut your grass for you, have no idea.

I had this problem in the past. Our HOA has no soliciting. I told them this. The next time they came I called the police, then answered my door and had a nice chat with them and acted interested until the police arrived. At that point I started saying fairly loudly, "Now this is the last time I'm telling you, get off my property!"

The police then told them that they would be arrested for trespassing if they came into our neighborhood again. We never saw them again.
