Articles I've read say the LTE still works with this. The radio hasn't been updated at all with this version it's the same.

Can someone who has the upgrade already check the quick control menu labs in the stock browser? It was bugged badly on 4.2 where the url box would freeze at top and couldnt see the progress bar. I hope they fix this as well

I got the OTA update last night for the Nexus 7. I was surprised to see one meg file updating like 50+ system apps. It seems to have fixed the large standby battery drain I was experiencing with 4.2. I lost about 4% over the 8 hours last night on 4.2.1. Not great but it's improvement from 1% an hour drain I was experiencing with 4.2 on Nexus 7. I was about to go back to 4.1.2 if this wasn't fixed.

so if you're rooted can you do OTA updates?

Mine did but I used RootKeeper. I've read somewhere that someone updated with root (but without Rootkeeper) but did not want to take a chance. Also wanted to test out Rootkeeper for the first time - it worked without an issue.

I received 4.2.1 update for the Galaxy Nexus. Again, the file size was like a megabyte but it updated 68 system files/apps. I don't understand how that's possible from such small file.

Absolutely nothing. It did not effect the system clock or calendar, only the ability to add a birthday or anniversary to someones profile in your contacts.

997kb update, it doesnt update any apps, it just scans and "optimize" your app which happens everytime there is a update

Can confirm it does not fix the quick control lab within the stock broswer from ice cream sandwich

Still dont like how the task list button now blacks out the background instead of fade like 4.1

ever since 4.2, its been causing my beautiful widget app to activate GPS at around 12 noon every day and would stay active until I either manually refresh weather or kill the task.

Posting here because I don't think a new thread is necessary. This applies only to those who rooted their nexus devices and use Clockworkmod as the boot loader.

I was puzzled by the ever-decreasing size of usable space and could not figure out why the used space and the left-over don't add up, so I started browsing folders mindlessly if there was something that I was missing. And I wasn't completely crazy.

What I found was this "blobs" folder next to backup folder under /sdcard/Clockworkmod/. The folder was over 1.2 GB with 1,000+ subfolders. Upon a quick search, I found the explanation.

While I am a complete Android noob, listening to the dude who makes Clockworkmod, the "blobs" work like an incremental backup, each "blob" being kind of a "restore point". It's not clear to me ,from what he says, what triggers them or whether they're on a timer. But what's certain is Clockworkmod produces lots of small folders that takes up a lot of room in your device. Some people's "blobs" folder is over 4.0 GB.. D: The author defends its behavior for it enables a faster backup process. (Frankly a dubious claim if you read the comments in the link.)

I suppose it's up to individuals what to think of this. In my case I ended up deleting my backups as well as "blobs" folder, and turned to TWRP. It's simply not worth losing so much space in such an inefficient manner even for backups. For what it's worth, I also note that the time was running an hour late when I boot recovery using CWM. And after getting rid of the CWM-generated backups and "blobs", my Nexus 7 feels noticeably faster, which affirms my decision positiviely.

I wish I could do away with either of these and keep root at the same time, but that isn't a possibility afaik. (right?)

This only applies to those who rooted their Android devies and use CWM. If you don't root your device this isn't an issue.

Beautiful Widgets uses GPS on my Nexus 4. I haven't used it for a while, but back in CM9 on my SGS2, I recall it using network location only.

There is a new BW update today (5.0). No tsure if it changes anything.

You can just root and not install Clockworkmod. My Nexus 7 is rooted and doesn't have Clockworkmod. I think some of these "one click root" programs install busybox and clockworkmod backup automatically by default. Having busybox and clockworkmod will change and overwrite some of your system files so any OTA update will automatically fail to install. Guaranteed.

You can root any Nexus device manually using FastBoot. There's no need for Clockworkmod. Just keep your stock recovery. Whenever you need Clockworkmod to flash something, you can FastBoot Clockworkmod just for that one time use and on the next reboot, you'll get your stock recovery back. That is what I do on both my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7.

If this is in response to the person who said CWM was taking up extra space.... that is for backups. If he's backing up via CWM I am pretty sure he does need CWM.
