If he were part of a terrorist organization he would be happy because we assume the list of cities he wrote down were cities that are destroyed.

At first I didn't think the show would be good, I figured it would take a season before they started to venture out of their town. However, it looks like next week week they begin to try to figure out wtf is going on. I also did not like the prison bus subplot, but it looks like that is going to be wrapped up pretty soon.

I'm curious about one thing:

The President of the US was giving what looks to be a State of the Union address when the bombs went off. It's impossible terrorists were able to smuggle in enough bombs to hit each major city, so the nuclear bombs had to of been from ICMBs. China, or Russian. NORAD was not asleep at the wheel, and about thirty minutes before the bombs started hitting the cities the President would of been rushed to Air Force One or a bunker in DC. I believe the US military would have about thirty minutes to see incoming ICMBs and launch our own. However, for whatever reason we can be assured DC was hit in the middle of a huge event, where pretty much the whole US federal government was vaporized. If I recall they always put a member of the President's cabinet in a safe place, so the new President of the US could be the Secretary of Agriculture.

Scarry thought, huh? Also, NORAD is moving out of the Cheyane Mountian facility, so they could be succeptible to bomb blasts and destruction in the future.....

Edit for tag problems

re cities: Denver, Atlanta, Philly, Chicago, San Diego were all clearly shown, then he picked up 3 more push pins. Kind of an odd selection of cities. They seem to be all spread out, maybe for "show" so that the greater terrorizing effect is acheived, but perhaps for some other reason.

I didn't notice him almost crying, but I was doing something else at the time and probably just missed that bit.

So far I'm hooked on this show, will continue watching as long as it doesn't take a stupid twist(computer virus cause severe meltdown in Nuke Powerplants or something or the guy awakes from a bad Acid Trip ).

Yea. I find the storyline about the supermarket kid Dale and his lame-o crush on the rich girl incredibly annoying.

Racist! I'm surprised you didn't say he was secretely there to steal all of thier TV's.

I'm still on the fence about this show. Nuclear war and post-apocalyptic life is a pretty sweet premise for a show, but I'm affraid they're going to kill it with some of the lame side-plots.

I bet the black guy is a FED.

1. He was new in town (like moved from populated area because he knew something).
2. He knew moris code pretty damn well.
3. He told his wife "You're safe, the kids are safe, don't question me".

Who knows, maybe the U.S. was not the only country nuked and he knew the crap was about to hit the fan.

Who thinks Jack has been in prison for the last 5 years? I've only seen the first episode but it seems so obvious.

I have a feeling he was in special forces, then jailed for some reason or got dishonorable discharge. He knows too much stuff to just be an ex-con (trache, demolitions, etc.)

Fascinating show.

I quite enjoyed the first couple episodes.

I do worry that there will be too many questions created, without answers...something Lost is horrible for.

We'll see.

Anyone else notice after the tracheotomy the little girl breathes through her mouth? I instantly thought: oops you just cut her throat for nothing! lol

Maybe the military (or some faction therein) staged a coup and tried to take over the government using the nukes as a 'bargaining tool'. When the government said 'yeah right' they let loose. Could explain why there was no warning and why the black guy 'knew' about it and got the hell out of dodge (or Denver).

Just a thought

Honestly not too into this show. I'm expecting if there were a real war, they'd see more nukes go off in the distance, not just one. It's going to be one of those shows that focuses on the fear and uncertainty in the town, and the way people behave, instead of the overall cause (supposed war). At the end of the season there will be some big surprise ending where we find out what really happened, and that the world didn't end after all.

Anyone still watching this show? What is Hawkins building with those cinder blocks? A small bomb shelter in his basement?

I think the mayor showed he knows how to do abnormal ass kicking (I expected some street fighter to pop out of his mouth) so maybe the kid went away to follow in daddy's footsteps...

Interesting show so far, but they didn't do their homework about the setting.

Here is what we know about the town:

1) Jericho is supposed to be in Kansas.
2) It is within a 20 minute drive on the north side of I-70
3) It is northeast of Goodland (a real town)
4) They can see mountains west of town (assumed to be the Rocky Mountains)
5) There is a salt mine nearby

I'm from a town about 30 miles from the real town of Goodland that lies right on I-70. Here are the problems with the setting:

1) The area in Kansas north of I-70 in the northwest corner is flat farmland. There are not trees, and not many towns. Goodland and Colby are the biggest towns here and are smaller than Jericho is said to be.

2) You can't see mountains even from the Kansas/Colorado border. They aren't really visible until you are within a 1-1.5 hours drive from Denver. They call it the "High Plains" for a reason...there are no mountains here.

3) Goodland does actually have a National Guard unit (as mentioned in the show), but it is tiny. They don't have tanks (as mentioned in the show). It's a maintainence company. Colby does too, and is a lot bigger than Goodland's unit.

4) There are no salt mines in northwest Kansas. The salt mines are in south central Kansas, within an hour's drive of Wichita or a good 6 hours drive from the actual town of Goodland.

5) The Smokey Hill Bridge mentioned in last night's show could possibly exist (at least the Smokey Hill River does), but it is about an hour drive south of Goodland..which would make it around a 1.5-2 hour drive (probably) from Jericho and that wouldn't have fit into the timeframe shown in the show.

At least they found a real town to mention, but thats about all.

LOL I just read on Wikipedia that it was filmed in Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence is in northeast Kansas! lol

Psst, did you also notice that Denver hasn't blow up? Those people aren't real either.

You realize this is a TV show, right? WTF is wrong with some people? Dissecting a freaking TV show. ITS A FANTASY STORY! Someone clue this guy in.

I know it's a fantasy show, doophus.

But the person who just messaged me on MySpace wondering if Jericho was a real town is the one who really needs clued in.

Too many people swallow what Hollywood dishes up to be reality.
