THESE are supposedly great lights.
They use 3 C size batteries, have about a 4-1/2 hour runtime, and excellent throw for an LED. They're getting rave reviews on Candlepowerforums as the best bang for your buck high powered LED flashlight.

$25 is cheap for a good light -- assuming these are good, which they appear to be..

This is a really good price for what it is -- but as I become more of a connoisseur of flashlights, I realize that sizing the tool for the job at hand is key.

This would be a great flashlight if you do a lot of outdoors work or camp outside, and need to see long distances. Also great to keep in your car for emergencies. For using in your house when the power goes out, or for crawling behind the TV and hooking up home theater, it is not only too expensive, it will be too bright -- painfully bright, I'm sure.

For not too much more, you can get flashlights that have variable brightness. Or, if you are a home dweller, you can simply recognize that this flashlight is too much.

(If you just really love neat gadgets, buy one anyway!)

I like the brightness... just not the size or runtime. It really should be regulated. are there any lithium batts in C size that you could slap in here and use this as an emergencly light in the winter time? I dont know of any lithium c cells. I'd rather have a cr123batt powered light for emergencies or a THOR 15mil candlepower searchlight.

Carbine15- While I am in total agreement that the lights should be regulated...if they were, they wouldn't be $24.95. However, the 4-1/2 hour runtime is just to 50% brightness and there would still be alot of usable light after that. A 3 D Maglite is virtually useless after a single hour.

As far as the lithium batteries are concerned, I've heard of people using CR123 batteries with a length of 5/8 heater hose split down one side as an adapter so they'll fit the barrel of a Maglight, I suppose you could do the same with this. I'd do some research before I tried it, though.

Either way, if you're a fan of Maglights and want all the benefits that LCD technology affords, this is about as hot a deal as you'll find right now.

The 4-1/2 hour runtime is to 50% of peak brightness according to some independent tests.
LEDs can run a looooong time at reduced output and, while still producing usable light, are noticably dimmer.
Unlike standard incandecent bulbs, LEDs will continue to produce usable light until the batteries are completely exhausted, hence the fairly optimistic 25 hour runtime they post on their website. It's not a lie, but, it's not exactly accurate either.

have this flashlight...it is very good indeed... excellent battery life and light consistent with buls..maybe a little brighter for long distance lighting

oh..and Jessica Alba is alright, but what about Tyra Banks... yum!
