That gif with the pedestrian illustrates why you should never stop in the middle of the road. The cop's view was obstructed by the other car, which I assume had the right of way and should've kept going.
I hate it when people stop on a multi-lane road to let a pedestrian cross. Or a car out of a parking lot. Yes, even when I'm the pedestrian or car...I have to try and wave them off with a 'thanks-but-no-thanks'...if they would just keep going, traffic wouldn't be congested and my opportunity to cross/pull out would come much sooner. And I wouldn't have to risk someone in the other lane plowing into me.
