I think it's somewhat more likely that kids in 2053 would ask who are any of those, or be vaguely aware that once they made forgettable music but these days one of them is a politician and/or a reality TV show host.
As for the ugg boots, there's time for them to come back into fashion once or twice before then.
Yeah, those musical acts aren't going to be multi-generational hits. Just as many acts of the "golden age" of music remain forgotten today, because they should be forgotten, there are acts that will of course be forever remembered. I think even in 2050 people will still enjoy the music of the 1960s and 1970s, and there will be grunge fans and fans of the ska wave and fans of rap-core and similar rap-rock-metal genres, to say nothing of the more general music that doesn't neatly fit into specific categories other than calling it rock or progressive rock. But some musical acts just don't survive the generation gap, it's always been that way and always will be that way.
Frankly I'm still surprised a band like Good Charlotte is even still doing anything these days, I thought that slice of music history died. lol
People get so caught up in the idea that the good music from the 60s and 70s is 40-50 years old today and we still listen to it, and try to compare it to the idea of people in that era listening to music that old. But recorded music is still so new, relatively, it won't quite be seen in that same light as time goes on. Us listening to the golden age of rock is really more that we are listening to the acts that spawned styles of music that are still around today, whereas those who lived in that generation were either listening to the entirely new and progressive era of music, or listening to styles of music that were entirely different and more boring. You just don't hear many people yearning for the music of the 30s, 40s, and 50s, it just wasn't captivating in the same way as modern music. Not that it was bad, but it was more a product of an era from yesteryear. The way we view life is much different compared to the 30s and 40s, yet not really all that far removed from the 60s and 70s. That's a large part of why modern music came to be the way it was, partly a revolt. Things are much different today, due in large part by the generational movements and music of that era.
