I can tell you first hand that I don't think they don't absorb that much impact. I was riding my jetski in the Gulf parallel to the beach just kind of surfing the waves and then going over it and surfing along the next one so I was able to haul ass quite easily. I was doing roughly 65 when I encountered something I later learned is called "confused seas" that was caused by a large inlet to the bay that I was passing. At 65mph I hit a wave dead on and went airborne and landed on a wave going in a completely different direction. I went one way and the jetski went another, I skipped over the water at least once and maybe more and then my leg dug into the water and basically flipped me over and slapped me straight into the water. Let me tell you, that shit HURT. The life jacket did its job and saved my life because I have zero doubt that had I not been wearing it I would have drowned. I must have bobbed for at least 10 minutes before I caught my breath and mustered up enough strength to swim to the ski. With that said, it sure didn't feel like it absorbed much of the impact.

Bought it the day it came out without reading reviews....it's a Mass Effect title after all.

Mistake. The gameplay is decent, but it's like they ran out of money for the animation and voice actors, so they had to ask the janitor and receptionist to fill in.

I too was surprised when the ten year old franchise that was finished five years ago and is a property of EA turned out to be bigger on hype than delivery. Shocked, even.
