I think it's a Southern thing. That's what I always called them. Apparently this map agrees:The most shocking part of this is seeing a shopping cart referred to as a "buggy."

"Buggy" is common around here, but I've always hated it. I just say "cart."The most shocking part of this is seeing a shopping cart referred to as a "buggy."
I still don't know WTF a "turnaround" is.
I bet those 2 dudes had a bit of fuckery afterwards too.

And I've never once heard anyone in 36 years call it a wagon or carriage in the Maryland, or a buggy in Virginia. Same with DC. Everyone here calls them shopping carts, with the rare basket by some people. That image is stupid.Strange. Since at least the late 80s, at no time have I ever heard the term "shopping wagon" or "shopping carriage" in either Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont. Never. Zero.
IGA, Hannaford, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, Shop n Save, Price Chopper, Sams, Mardens, whatever, they've always just been "carts."
I have heard French folk from Quebec and north Maine use the term "buggy" in English before though.
