REALLY seems to think he’s outside, with the digging and all!
Awesome dog. Mine only behaves like that when I come home and not over simple treats... but I do usually come home bearing treats.
The pittie mix I rescued (according to Embark DNA panel, about 45% American Staffie) did that digging when I was checking her out in the kennel. Did it outside in the fenced in gravel area, did it inside on tile floor, and when I brought her home she continued to do it occasionally in my home. It's a coping thing more than anything. She'd "dig" into the carpet, and as she got more comfortable she did it less. I gave her a blanket and she would dig into it but as she settled in with me over time she doesn't do it at all except to nest into her blanket or on her doggie bed. But when I watched her do it in gravel she would try to really dig in there to get herself into as small a spot as possible.
Shelter and vet both thought she about was about 2 years old, so whatever history she had she carried it with her for a while.
Also: pittie zoomies are the best! A damn riot they are! And the best part is, while they are scooting quite fast, you can tell it's not remotely their top speed. Just watch the butt! It's not a sprint motion at all with the rear legs. And that's quite universal. They are a riot lol
