Yeah, I wanted to comment but this post is more than a week old--I'm only now catching up on some days off from epic thread.

Lol--N64. I knew a few people with those, but what was the point? NES owned the industry for a decade, SNES destroyed all other consoles before or since, if I'm not mistaken.

Technically, the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and Wii have each done far better than the NES or SNES. At one time, there was an NES in one out of three family homes. I was 16 when the N64 launched. I and two friends got it at launch. Only one of those friends ever got a PSX and he only had it a few months. None of my other friends ever got one, though I always knew it was outselling it by far. Newbian's perspective is from the typical Pokemon-fan kid. In that demographic, N64 was king. That's why it's an age test.

General consensus is the N64 was too powerful for too little data in the ROM's. PS won because it could do long ass games with large textures, full motion video, voice over everything (which took a while but eventually became the norm) and any other little extras you want can be easily thrown on. And since the discs were cheap you could throw in 3 or 4 to do a longer game (FF7) and not raise the price.
Exactly. The N64 could trash the PSX in raw performance but all people remembered was "blurry textures." I actually liked that it could filter textures and thought PSX titles would look a lot better if theirs were filtered and stable like the N64's instead of pixelated and jumpy. The N64 also did a bit of AA that made 320x240 actually look good for a 3D game.

I was playing nes and snes long before I got into the n64 and I was correct in all cases such as it being more popular for the forum posters as more people would be more familiar here with it then the nes as we have a lot of younger posters.

I understand you like beating a dead horse but keep it up as it's fun watching you do that.

I don't think I played any pokemon games on the n64 though but did play the original one for the gameboy but then again so did a few million.

Make sure you print this out:

I still get the impression that ATOT posters have a higher age average than any other Internet forum I've heard of.

You'd probably have to find a forum for retirees, BINGO enthusiasts, or a seniors-only club to find a higher average.

Seriously, though. I'm sure ATOT's avg age is much higher than other tech enthusiast forums.

Well yeah, but Boomer and Olds really screw with that average.

The forum itself is much older.

I have no idea why that's supposed to be funny (or maybe it's just supposed to be cute), but that cat looks almost exactly like one of mine.

Wait, perhaps she broke into my home and is secretly molesting my cat... :hmm:

VaGunForum.net is almost all 30 year olds. I joined when I was 29 and that made me the kid.
