Poor blacks in the south had to eat whatever was easy to make and cheap back in the days. Watermelon was easy to grow in those seasons. Same thing goes for chitlins (pig-intestines), they were cheaper than beef and what not. It's just that families start cooking them more and more and the stereotype passed on.
I don't mean to be obtuse... but is there some stereotype regarding vermin and African-Americans I wasn't aware of? I can imagine that impoverished conditions, in general, would lead to decreased ability to deal with vermin... but there's nothing about being stereo-typically African-american, that I know of, that relates a desire or behavior to increased vermin.
So aside from the gender changes we have:

Yea, obviously somebody just trying to make a "good old days" post or something about America's obsession with thinner and thinner women. There is much evidence to the contrary though, Christina Hendricks i am fairly sure is larger than Marilyn Monroe ever was.
All of those women on top have image issues when you see nearly every bone jutting out of their body, nobody finds that attractive, nor is that the standard nowadays by which we measure beauty.
