There was a family living down the road from me (rural) that had a bunch of birds, mostly chickens with a turkey or two. I swear to FSM I witnessed the following several times. I drive near the house, faithfully maintaining ~10 below the 45 speed limit because I know how many friggin deer we have, and as I crest the hill, this rather plump turkey approaches the center of the road from ~200' out. I slow down to a stop, he fully plumes in the middle of the road, and just *stares* at me. A dozen chickens and a female turkey or two cross from the opposite side of the road to their home side, slowly plodding away like they don't have a care in the goddamn world, until the last little foot hops off the pavement, at which point the crossing guard deplumes, and struts off after the last birds. Breathtakingly organized, and I appreciate the chutzpah.Turkeys are kind of intimidating. I was working on a job, and some domestics came over to visit. The hens were chill, but the tom was *very* protective of his girls. I got the threat display, and he'd walk around me with his wing tips dragging the ground, which made an unnerving sound.
