True. It also means they self-corrected and moved on. Ever meet a preacher or politician who did that?
Almost always yes, but there's a timeless and completely non-technical book called "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" that is well worth anyone reading.

@lxskllr - I agree with you but I think the idea is to give kids an easy way to get the last drops of juice w/o slurping. I mean, you still need to tilt the box and kids will continue to slurp regardless. But it's interesting sometimes to literally turn things on their head.

My problem with it is it won't work as indicated. First, it mandates a bend that *perfectly* fits into the corner of the box. Second, it has to exactly make a 90° bend when inserted. Push the straw at anything other than precise design pressure, it either won't reach the corner, or the straw will raise from the bottom. The normal way, you just shove the straw in the corner and tip the box. It can't not work.

Ok, could someone explain the wordplay to me? Been bothering me forever, PN also have one.

Jesus's middle name is Hume!
P&Ns middle name is and

My google fu is not up to the task.
I think maybe I get the second cause &->and ... but I am sure there is a context beyond that?

edit: Oh ffs

"These are the first three letters of the name Ἰησοῦς, the Greek spelling of the name Jesus used in the original Greek text of the New Testament. At some point, however, presumably sometime in the early 19th century, ignorant Americans who were accustomed to the Latin alphabet and who knew nothing of the Greek alphabet mistook the letters of the IHϹ monogram for the Latin letters J, H, and C. They concluded that the J must stand for "Jesus" and the C must stand for "Christ," but then no one could figure out what the H stood for. Apparently, some people just concluded, "Hey, I guess H must be his middle initial!""

But is it a common phrase to use in context of .... ?

The H is for Haploid.

But it does mean they were wrong.

not really, no.

meaning: revisions are almost always refinements. The first advice is usually still valid.

But yeah, try to find other leadership groups with an ability to admit they were wrong, adjust, and move on with a better plan and outcome. You won't, and yet you worship those type of people.

Reminds me of my dad. Walking around Nunavut in khaki shorts and boat shoes with no socks. Zero fucks given. Inuit were impressed, they were bringing him food, wanting to take pics with him haha

Did he have neuropathy in his legs? Or just didn't GAF and tolerated the bite?

I took a trip to Alaska in Feb. and the air temp was -30F at night. I wore shorts and slide-ons outside to smoke late at night. I can't feel any contact or temperatures, etc. on my legs though, due to peripheral neuropathy.

I'd just like to add as a side side topic is that the -30F, no wind, completely still air in Alaska didn't feel as cold as back home here, where you get temps of -10 but windchills of -30. That wind just strips the heat off of you.

Yep, the movement is what kills.

I've never felt cold like a moderate day (20F or so) in front of a waterfall. Cheeeeerist that moving mist will absolutely numb your body in seconds.

Ah, and there be the rub maties. That's why I recommended Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.

Scientists are still human - at least for now. And therefore subject to the same foibles that plague the rest of us. They just tend to have a great deal more discipline as well as something called "intellectual integrity."

But there are the rare exceptions even today. If you're interested, google prions. And look at how long the author of that theory had to endure the ridicule of his peers until he was eventually, finally proven right.

edit - of course I have the greatest respect for them, especially those involved in basic research. My only point is that it's counterproductive to give unfettered deference to any group of people. We all need to keep our minds as open as possible w/o self injury.
