Funny enough...Wil Wheaton has done a lot of narrator and voice-over work, in more than just Star Trek related content. He even did some Forgotten Realms novels (D&D). So did Ice-T, lol.

I quit reading a looong time ago. I used to read tons, but the internet killed my attention span. Well, recently I read Picard Firewall, cause it featured Seven of Nine, and I wanted to find out what she did after Voyager. I still don't know. If you removed all the direct references, I doubt I'd have clued in it was Seven.

Anyway, my real point is after reading, I'm sitting around thinking "WTF?", and look online to see what other people are saying about it. I saw a couple reviews call the prose excellent. If that was excellent, shit sure has changed since I did a lot of reading. I've read some literature, but it's mostly just normal stories you'd find in a normal bookstore, bought by normal people. Nobody was changing the world with most of what I read. Firewall being an example of "good" prose is appalling. Maybe it's just me, and my expectations were too great for secondary source fiction, but the author is a pro, with numerous well read works.

It did get me in the mood to read more though. I'll have to open some of the books I bought, and just put on the shelf :^D In any case, Firewall was better than whatever that was above. That shit reads some kind of weird satire :^D
Whether a book is life-changing depends a lot on the book from my experience. Some are just very well told versions of stories you already know (beyond 'a stranger comes to town' or 'a hero goes on a journey'), but there's some out there that just flip the idea of how to write a story on its head, and those are worth chasing. You may need to keep your ear to the internet to find them though, it's hard to trial-and-error books if you're picky.

A couple questions. Are all Jónsdóttirs female. I know how the names work generally, but if you have a boy and girl twin, do they have the same last name?
They would have different last names, Icelandic last names i believe have to be usually the fathers first name (sometimes mother) and then son/dottir

Generally, with few exceptions, a person's last name indicates the first name of their father (patronymic) or in some cases mother (matronymic) in the genitive, followed by -son ("son") or -dóttir ("daughter").

What is the "(e)z" in Latino names. Is that something like "son of"?
Correct, Rodrigez - Son of Rodrigo

Another good sharpness test there; holding the knife open palm like that. 100 on a Bess is very sharp. Dan Winkler knives are outstanding too btw, their reputation is well deserved. 80CrV2, "Swedish saw steel" is crazy tough and should be harder to sharpen, but it's not. His sheaths too omg, leather covered Kydex with a felt lined interior. You feel the click but you don't hear it

That mirror finish btw, that's what the Japanese water stone on a Tormek does. No need for stropping.
