Worth is subjective, but the quality difference between French and US butter is greater than the difference between US butter and margarine.

I agree french and irish butters are better than the stuff in US grocery stores…but not THAT much better.

Yup, it's worth it though. We don't use it for cooking (I'm not made of caviar over here) but on toast? Delicious, and one lasts like two weeks.

I go Irish too. Some of that French buerre (Brittany or Normandy style maybe?) comes with some cheese notes to it, which I prefer to obtain from actual cheese.

My French friends think I'm weird. I give them shit about ham and butter sandwiches, they give me shit about not drinking wine or wanting anything to do with foie gras.
