That was pretty good.
That was pretty good.
I think there's some stereotype about swimming ability. Not sure if there's any basis in reality. I just don't know.
This one is worth making into a poster and hanging in the garage!
"He saw a notice that the domain was about to expire"
eh, that's not something you just "see" unless you are deeply into the professional SEO tools and have them running all the time. You pretty much have to go looking for it.
Not to mention if a domain is "about to expire" you could, at best, get your hands on it in 90 days. And even then, expiring domains are hard to get, even via a backorder.
The story is probably embellished just a little.
he went to the police department's Web site. Perhaps because he is a network designer, or perhaps because at least one of his eyes was fully functional, McCray noticed a notice. It was from those helpful customer service people at GoDaddy.com. It explained that the domain had expired and that it would be sold or deleted in a mere 42 days.
So McCrary was forced to weigh his civic-minded nature against his speed camera irritation. In an act of astounding patience and fortitude, McCrary made like a camera himself, watched and waited the 42 days, and then calmly put down $10 less than his fine in order to be the proud owner of bluffcitypd.com.
Looks like this happened back in 2010. Here's a link to a CNET article:

Go find the website on archive.org -it's there.
Also, $80 to host a site? It's $5-$15 for a domain.

oh ok so it was already expired and was on a registrar landing page.
$5 to $15 for a NEW domain. Back ordering (trying to get a name when it expires), was $75 last time I did it, and that was like 2007
Sounds like the provider injected a banner of sorts to remind them it was about to expire. He saw that, and waited for it to actually expire and bought it.
Some dude on Imgur:
The only one I believe is the one about Nicole's sister and the cheesburger. Although I do have to give props to Darren.
Am I the only one here who carefully scanned this image for TridenT?
Cables for your Dryer! Made by Monster Cable. The full metal jacket compresses the super fiber-injected pixie dust to maximum clothes drying effectiveness compared to generic dryer power cables... or something. :hmm:
